I dabbled with the first one on the old Xbox, then dabbled even less on Fable II but recently picked it up again as I bought Fable III for two of my kids as they have Xbox 360s. I figure once I get through Fable II, I can borrow my kids Fable III disc.Daniel Jackson wrote:This one is on my radar to pick up as well. I am enjoying Fable II pretty well. I am not interested in all the side cool things you can do. I mean I 'did' get married, have a home and did a few basic things, enough to rack up some gamerscore but the other pretty cool things to do are just something to take up time and increase your game play hours. I would rather stick to the exploring and combat system. I do like how your physical actions reflect on your character. Eat too much fatty food, you start to get fat. Eat vegatables, you get thinner. You keep fighting with your sword, your physique gets bigger, you employ magic, your face is crisscrossed with magic lines, you keep getting your butt beat, you get scars on your face.
I agree that the voice talent used on the game is top notch. I think my only complaint to date is the damn menu system. For me it takes to long to load certain menus and I have one of the new 360s. I expect it to zoom along but I think the software is holding it back.

My kids bought me the new 250 gig slim for Christmas. So far, I'm very impressed with it. I do find myself missing the Wiimote though. I've gotten used to way it enhances the gameplay.
I think you will find that the X360 is a much better system. Much better for the serious gamer and with beautiful graphics. The Wii could have been SO much more IMO if the graphics were better.Daniel Jackson wrote:Xbox 360.Knightt wrote:I dabbled with the first one on the old Xbox, then dabbled even less on Fable II but recently picked it up again as I bought Fable III for two of my kids as they have Xbox 360s. The Wii does have some pretty cool graphics in games like Zelda, Metroid and Mario Galaxy. They actually come fairly close the 360. The problem is Nintendo doesn't put out enough games like that. I hope that changes with the next gen of consoles.Knightt wrote:I think you will find that the X360 is a much better system. Much better for the serious gamer and with beautiful graphics. From what you are saying I think you will love Fable 3. The menu system is gone entirely. The load times can still be a little long, I think they maybe could have spent a little more time on it.Knightt wrote:I dabbled with the first one on the old Xbox, then dabbled even less on Fable II but recently picked it up again as I bought Fable III for two of my kids as they have Xbox 360s. It'd be good to play it pretty soon after 2 as although you don't need to remember any of the past you can see some pretty cool things.
Playing Fable III soon afterward is a great idea. I am doing the same with The Force Unleashed and The Force Unleashed II and it makes for better story telling.
To decrease load times you can simply install the game to your Xbox 360's hard drive. You still need the disc in the tray to play but there is no noise from the disc spinning (which is minimal on the 360-slim, I only hear the fans on mine at any given time) and the system accesses the game program directly. I am not sure just how much time is saved by installing it to the hard drive but if load times really became a problem for me, that could at least alleviate some of the problem.

I love the ability to load the games on the 360. It is so much more convenient. I just wish they could find a way to eliminate having to put the disc in to run the game though. I know they do this because of piracy concerns, but I'm sure the pirates have figured out a way around it anyhow.Knightt wrote:Playing Fable III soon afterward is a great idea. Nintendo dropped the ball on that aspect. I know their goal was to minimize costs, but they could have at least made it so an external hardrive could be used.

I agree, DJ. I wish they would have configured it where you didn't have to put the disc in every time. Maybe every 3rd or 4th time the game is loaded. Or maybe a random number between of times between 2 and 5 or something like that. Or, even let it be different for each game depending on the type of game it is.

Not enough hard drive space, only got the mega old school 20 gig version.Knightt wrote:Playing Fable III soon afterward is a great idea. I am doing the same with The Force Unleashed and The Force Unleashed II and it makes for better story telling.

You only need 8 gig or so for most games. Plus you can always delete them when you are done playing to make more room.ian_house wrote:Not enough hard drive space, only got the mega old school 20 gig version.Knightt wrote:Playing Fable III soon afterward is a great idea. That reminds me, I have my old 120 hard drive for my previous Xbox 360. I will be putting that up on Ebay or something so I can get a bit of extra cash allowing me to pick up some more books or maybe put down on a newer game
BTW, my Ebay purchased copy of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II arrived in the mail today. The other day I got in SW: The Clone Wars for the 360. Meaning, I will have a busy MLK weekend with Monday off and everything. But before I do that, I have a bunch of comics to sort through in my extras as I have a few books to get sent out. But with the Wife out in CA right now, my evenings will be dedicated to using the Force, my bruthas !!
Well, I do plan on watching SW: The Clone Wars Season 1 on Blu-Ray aaaand Band of Brothers on Blu-Ray in memory of the passing of MAJ Dick Winters.
So to stay on topic, I am playing Star Wars: The Clone Wars (yeah, it is a kiddie game) and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. I would love to have had the collectors edition with the SW 2 gig thumb drive and steel case but I wanted to save the extra $15 bucks. As it was I picked up TFU II for only $32.50 shipped.

Good price on that. I'll eventually get around to getting a copy as well, but I have a few other games I want to play first. I'm nearing the end of Assassin's Creed (man, Robert De Sable is a tough boss to beat).Knightt wrote: So to stay on topic, I am playing Star Wars: The Clone Wars (yeah, it is a kiddie game) and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. Playing Forza Motorsport 3 on the 360. One of the best racing games I've ever played. Beautifully rendered scenery and tracks (and lots of them) plus tons of cars. You can install upgrades as you earn points and you can even paint your cars and put graphics on them. You can either pick up and play or set the levels to something more challenging. Very cool game.

I've had a 360 a couple years and just got the family a Wii for Christmas. I find myself missing the traditional gamepad! (Yes, I know you can use a GameCube controller, but I don't have one.) I hate having to point the Wiimote at the screen to make selections. A D-pad and a button is so much quicker. I use that option on the Wiimote when possible, but it's not always possible.Daniel Jackson wrote:I do find myself missing the Wiimote, but other than that, the 360 rocks!depluto wrote:I knew you would learn to love that 360.Daniel Jackson wrote:Playing Forza Motorsport 3 on the 360. One of my brothers is the same way. He just can't get into the different approach you have to use on the Wiimote. He uses the classic controller whenever possible.Heath wrote:I've had a 360 a couple years and just got the family a Wii for Christmas. I find myself missing the traditional gamepad!
