Just started playing Splinter Cell: Conviction... meh.
I sure screw up a lot as I am not used to playing 360 games in stealth... this is NOT a game in which you can go in 'guns-a-blazin'.
Some neat features like 'marking' two targets for quick kills but this is ONLY done after you have performed a hand to hand kill.
It might be just me but I think that Splinter Cell is a ship that has sailed.
Great graphics and jazzy gizmos add to the game play but I do not think that I have the patience to play this one for very long.
Now the Pinball FX2 Marvel tables are soaking up MUCH of my time as is Castlevania: Lord of Shadows... i.e. God of War III on crack.
I even tore into Trials HD this weekend... after finishing Call of Duty: Black Ops I needed something without the intensity of combat and an over abundance of laughter. Watching your motorcycle rider go rag doll upon impact OR the radical 'ski jump' event. It is also cool to compete with friends qualifying times or medal awards. As you go through the event, it is annotated exactly where your friend(s) made it to (or more than likely, where they wiped out... but really, watching your rider bite it BIG TIME is a laugh a minute.

Keep us updated, if you would... Splatterhouse received AWFUL reviews. As in a whopping, described as "anti-social and broken", "Splatterhouse is a mess".robb77 wrote:just started on splatterhouse - and im loving it so far

IGN didn't even waste time doing a quality control on the video review as it is jumpy and takes FOREVER to download.
Now, I tend to live and die by IGN's reviews as I have yet to find one that is not 90% accurate and nothing I could not be talked into and I feel that they have saved me more money by reviewing something, finding it terrible and MORE than worthy of the 'pre-owned rack' or just waiting a couple months for the price to go down. You can 'usually' gauge the quality of a game by how quickly it takes for the 'new' price to come down off the initial asking $59.99. Not that they are always correct as I found that their 5.0 game rating for Dark Void to be way off as I find the game incredibly entertaining, even to the point of making me laugh... not only did I pick it up on the cheap but actually saw a price hike later on, making me wonder. But I really did what IGN has to say and what the luscious Jessica Chobot has to look at as wel... I mean what she has to SAY (she DOES speak, right ?)

So far ive just played the first level - the load times are longish but not excessive and there are a very few glitches here and there but nothing major so far. All in all it is a very good game -so far- and very playable. If your into beat em ups then its worth gettin on the cheap.Knightt wrote:Keep us updated, if you would... Finished Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands last night. The game gets better as you acquire abilities and unlock more of the fighting moves. Some of the puzzles were quite challenging and the levels were very imaginative overall. I'm going to have to look for the other Prince of Persia game for the Wii now. Would definitely recommend this game if you run across it in the 20 to 30 dollar range.
I was able to pick up Call of Duty: World at War two days ago at our post exchange (PX) for $9.95 (no tax) brand spanking new. I had traded this game away at some point and I can see why because my current save is at an extremely difficult point where I need to storm a Japanese bunker on Okinawa armed with a flame thrower and an M1919 machine gun. But for that price I had to pick it up.
Another bonus is that you can now play the nazi/gook zombie levels as a single player with the newest update ala 'Black Ops' style. I notice a decent achievement once getting through level 15 on zombie mode (any map) but dude, I don't see this happening very often as it gets pretty frantic for me trying to patch up 5-6 windows, defend said windows and once the first couple zombies get into the room it's only a matter of time until yer worm food yourself.
Another game I have dabbled with in my own zombie like flu-state (yes, I will be sick over Christmas for sure) is Ultimate Alliance 2 and Wolverine. The Wolvie game had me stumped for months (maybe over a year) and for some reason I decided to play the game and got past the hurdle on my first try. I was pretty bummed as the game is an achievement-fest but I just could NOT get past that part in the level. Now I have really moved on and the achievements have been rolling in which is nice as I am about the breach the 20,000 gamer score. Whoo hoo !!!
Ultimate Alliance 2 is just a damn dungeon crawl that attempts to pawn itself off as an RPG. But it is enough to give me a Marvel high for a bit, that and some easy gamer score.

Got a Xbox 360 for Christmas and have been playing 'Alan Wake'. Has a 'Resident Evil' feel to it, but not quite as in depth with the game play. Graphics are amazing and at times the scenery is almost realistic.
I don't think this game will appeal to everyone as the action is somewhat limiting. You are basically armed only with a flashlight and revolver for the better part of the game. You find things like shotguns, rifles and flare guns to help you along the way, but nothing very powerful. A lot of times you are swarmed by "darkness infected" locals and the only way out is to run past them to the next check point (not an easy thing to do sometimes). Can be very frustrating to say the least.
If you like a heavy story driven game with a "Resident Evil" touch then, I would recommend giving it a try (I wouldn't pay more than 20 bucks or so).

I've been meaning to pick up Alan Wake for a while. I loved some of the older survival horrors and it's a shame there hasn't really been a good one for years. The last good Res Evil was 4 and that was more action than horror. A mate of mine highly recommended Alan Wake as well so I think it's gunna be next on my to play list.
I'm currently playing Battlefield Bad Company 2, mainly online. I die ALOT. I've never taken this long to get into a game, I die about 4 times for every kill at the moment

There are also a couple of additional chapters you can download after you've finished the main game. I'll probably wait for the price to go down a bit before trying them.ian_house wrote:I've been meaning to pick up Alan Wake for a while. Story of my LIFE, man... getting tired of getting 'pwned' (or whatever 'they' are saying) by 12 year olds with a mouth worse than a sailor.ian_house wrote:I'm currently playing Battlefield Bad Company 2, mainly online. Luckily they are mostly quiet in Battlefield, it hasn't got the hype COD of MOF has so less kids... but more hardcore fans. It's a great game, I just don't seem to be getting any better. I'm ok when I'm with a couple of mates as the squads stay together, but if I just jump into a random squad they all take off in different directions thinking they can win a war on their ownKnightt wrote:Story of my LIFE, man... getting tired of getting 'pwned' (or whatever 'they' are saying) by 12 year olds with a mouth worse than a sailor.ian_house wrote:I'm currently playing Battlefield Bad Company 2, mainly online. Playing the first Assassin's Creed right now. Huge game with a lot of people/structures to interact with and tons of ground to cover. The attention to detail is amazing. It does have a few annoying camera issues when fighting guards in some areas of the cities. It has a tendency to be blocked by bushes or some other kind of object. Doesn't happen all the time, but often enough.
The exploration aspect of the game is the best part, while the fighting gets a bit tedious because of the sheer amount of it. The swordplay is nothing special, but the I do like the neat way some of the combo kills are done. The silent kills make up for the average swordplay though. The missions are fun, but get repetitive in the later parts of the game. I wish they would have paid more attention to that part.
Great game overall and I can't wait to try out the next two chapters.

I played the first AC... I thought it was ok. Then the second game came out and WOW, what a difference. Not only a great improvement in graphics but the gameplay was even better than the first with less sneaking around (well I mean it is basically a stealth game) but much more direct combat and the extreme attention to detail and historical events was very impressive. You get quite a history lesson by reading all the info that is available within the game. You do not have to read it all to play but it REALLY adds to the story. I am thinking that the 3rd and recent installment of the AC story is even better. They certainly have put the 'fun' back into game compared to the first game. The exploration is a very cool aspect of this game (IMO) but wow, after a while it becomes a bit overwhelming for me.Daniel Jackson wrote:Playing the first Assassin's Creed right now. I am currently playing Fable II and the exploration is there if you need it OR just follow the trail to your primary quest and be done with it. The game is pretty simplistic and sometimes that is exactly what I need after a hard day of work and just want to kill something.

Yeah it's a relatively straight forward RPG but the fun is all in the humour and the voice acting is top notch. Good old Stephen Fry as Reaver takes the biscuit!Knightt wrote:I am currently playing Fable II and the exploration is there if you need it OR just follow the trail to your primary quest and be done with it. Nice to hear that AC II is even better, now I'm going to pick it up for sure. There are a few issues with the first one, but really there were not enough to detract from the game very much (at least for me). One annoying thing though was the crazy people/drunks who are all over the cities and push you and get in your way during certain missions where you don't want to draw attention to yourself. It got very frustrating to say the least. Oh, and the beggars are just as bad.Knightt wrote:I played the first AC... I thought it was ok. Then the second game came out and WOW, what a difference. This one is on my radar to pick up as well.
