That would probably be the best scenario that I can imagine. VEI retains the rights over the characters and can license them out and make money doing that kind of thing. DH, an established publisher, can handle the comics to get the VEI properties back out there and noticed again.
That would be awesome.
Otherwise, the below scenario is pretty much right.

This feels exactly how I would expect cybersquatters to act, or people hoping to "sell" off its properties rather than produce anything new itself.

If they keep moving at their current pace, it just might.ian_house wrote:By the time they release all those hardcovers everyone will have forgotten about the first hardcover rendering the effect useless, don't you think?xodacia81 wrote:Shadowman, Rai/Bloodshot, Eternal Warrior...and then start making some new books.

Great call jedi!jedimarley wrote:Funny....Shooter is set to make an "Announcement" next week at the NY con and from what I was told VEI will not be there.
Dark Horse will be there......
Maybe this was when Shooter and Dark Horse initially wanted to make their announcement but they had some final stuff to hammer out and decided to wait till the SDCC.

Based on what Jim has said, the idea of him working with Dark Horse was kicked around for a long time, but it really did only come together the week of San Diego. When I left NY to head to Comic-Con, Jim thought he'd be skipping the show. So... while he might have had some plans to announce, I don't think it was this.iggy101us wrote:jedimarley wrote: Maybe this was when Shooter and Dark Horse initially wanted to make their announcement but they had some final stuff to hammer out and decided to wait till the SDCC.

One of the things that's hard as a fan (and as a creator, I should add) is the longer planning cycle for projects these days, mainly due to the important inclusion of traditional book market in our efforts. Small and medium press can still react quickly, though... so who knows, maybe they can indeed have something rolling this year.Daniel Jackson wrote:I would be surprised to see anything this year.
