Yea... I bought that one before I even saw the 1:40.

Y'know, not to brag (no, seriously), I just happened to click back a couple of pages when I read your post and realized that (with the exception of the SM #5 Grampa...since there still isn't one), I sold CGC 9.8 copies of every single one of those SUPER rare/HTF VEI books to exactly one very lucky collector here...and four of those six to another fellow boardieDirtbagSailor wrote:Hard to say really. Any SUPER rare/HTF/High-Grade VEI issue is likely already deep in the icy-grip of a collector with ZERO intention to sell.

Re: Divinity #1 price/sales tracking
I bought my 1:40 from Midtown for about $20 when it first was released. I need to slab it pronto. Oh my dear I'm glad I got it and on the cheap.
Now I'm hoping The Valiant #4 1:40 does the same once Book of Death is released.

Re: Divinity #1 price/sales tracking
Two divinity #1 9.8 slabs were just up on eBay. I had a bid on one and figured I would snag the other if I lost (it was BIN). And then the traumas starting rolling in and I got swamped at work. Lost out on both.

Update: Two 9.8 1a sold on Ebay (not mine), each around $130.

Re: Divinity #1 price/sales tracking
Anybody notice that the Divinity #1 1:40 Larosa in CGC 9.8 with a BIN price of $649 (I think that was the price) on eBay has sold? Not sure if it sold for that amount -- the seller may have accepted a lower offer -- but that's a pretty significant sale if it happened.

The seller ended the listing because it is no longer available, so I am not sure if it actually sold or not.

Re: Divinity #1 price/sales tracking
I was thinking that meant they probably took an offer on it even if they didn't have the "Make an Offer" option enabled on the listing. Or maybe they took it down after it didn't immediately sell so it wasn't lingering around on there looking overpriced. It'd be nice to know if it's a confirmed sale or not.mkb28 wrote:CongoBill wrote:Anybody notice that the Divinity #1 1:40 Larosa in CGC 9.8 with a BIN price of $649 (I think that was the price) on eBay has sold? Re: Divinity #1 price/sales tracking
That is a grail! I haven't seen a CBCS 9.9 in the flesh, but I think that market is untested. If it was CGC, I'd feel much more confident (not at that price, though).

Re: Divinity #1 price/sales tracking
Seems like CBCS is even stricter with their grades, so that one maybe a 10.0 at CGC!
Owning a 9.9 would be pretty awesome.

Re: Divinity #1 price/sales tracking
That brings up an interesting point. I haven't made the CBCS plunge either because I'm not sure about their longevity. It sounds like they're pretty strict in their grading, but a new company is always on shaky ground. I've seen some great slabs show up from them, but never buy since I don't want to have a PGX type book a year from now (bad comparison, I know, but you get the point). I'd like to hear everyone else's opinion...

And a 9.9 in that book would definitely be nice.

Re: Divinity #1 price/sales tracking
I haven't witnessed that CBCS is stricter on grading. I'd want consistent first-hand knowledge of that before investing in a CBCS 9.9, personally. Others have had that experience, but I have not. My Nintendo CBCS slabs in 9.8, in my opinion, would not slab in 9.8 or 9.6 at CGC. This is based on my experience with screening those books at CGC. The creasing on the fold on the early thicker binding on the early Nintendo books is very hard to get in high grade, and I think CBCS inflated those books, in the slabs I've seen.

Has anybody ever seen a copy of Divinity 1 that wasn't in pristine condition? VEI really nailed it with the cardstock on that book.

Re: Divinity #1 price/sales tracking
I can't find a Variant 4 that doesn't have a bad middle spine crease. I had the same problem with The Valiant 4 1:50. It's an amazing cover, but it does scratch easily and once you get a crease, you're screwed.
