They also looked at the big markup retailers are getting on Book Of Death #1, and how a number of retailers are creating promotions to take advantages of it, discounts, incentives for sales staff to hand sell and raffling off the 1/25 limited series Legends Of Geomancer.
But it has been so successful for Valiant, giving them 70,000 pre-orders, they will be doing the same with Wrath Of The Eternal Warrior.

I've taken the *SQUEE* to Twitter already, posting the image of the 'Price-Up Email' to all the comic book news websites and on the Midtown feeds. Not sure if it'll generate any attention, but we'll see. I'll be doing the same again on facebook shortly.
Majorly *SQUEE* that we're going to have the same nonsense again with this new Eternal Warrior title. This going to become a regular thing??

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
I'm going to withhold judgement for the moment, since the article seems to be indicating that the deep discounts that retailers are getting is what is helping the numbers, not necessarily the incentive. If you look at the image, the slide seems to be indicating the discount that retailers receive based on minimum orders. If it turns out they are doing another incentive *story*, then I'll start the public *SQUEE*.raiden wrote:Not sure if this was posted already, but apparently BoD orders have been so successful, VEI is running a similar promotion for Wrath of the Eternal Warrior

I like that episode...
I always thought it ironic that ruining a TV show is associated with that episode. People are weird.

So are they going to make +1$ Plus Edition an 1:n incentive for Eternal Warriors?

Agreed - seems like the pricing structure will be the same and not another incentive book.kjjohanson wrote:I'm going to withhold judgement for the moment, since the article seems to be indicating that the deep discounts that retailers are getting is what is helping the numbers, not necessarily the incentive. LOL. I think the shark jumped with the 150 Unity 1 covers, but I have no issues with additional incentives. It's really fun to get my hands on them.

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
The variant #1 issues are starting to wear me out. I have purchased the last few deals from Ed and have been very disheartened to learn of all the retailer variant covers that I still need to purchase to "have them all." I am really close to just buying the Valiant Bundle at 50% off cover price through DCBS and being done with it.nycjadie wrote:LOL. Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
I am starting to feel the same way. I am a huge valiant fan and when I learned they were back I jumped right in and started back collecting everything I could. However there are so many variants that this has proven most difficult. On top of that. every month seems like there is a ton more variants to get simply to not lag behind. I am starting to get pretty sick and tired of it.mkb28 wrote: The variant #1 issues are starting to wear me out. I think it is almost comical that there are often MORE #1 variants than actual issues in an entire series...

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
It's ridiculously out of hand. At the very least they should release a list of all of the variants that are out there so fans know what they need if they want to get them all.DirtbagSailor wrote:I think it is almost comical that there are often MORE #1 variants than actual issues in an entire series...

Has anyone received any sort of response from Midtown specific to the LotG problem outside of the canned customer service email?

I did. Without explanation they said it was outside their control and offered me free shipping when i complained. Here is their response:kjjohanson wrote:Has anyone received any sort of response from Midtown specific to the LotG problem outside of the canned customer service email?
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us.
The change in pricing for the Legend of the Geomancer was something we are not able to control. We do not have any special promo discounts or offers other than our weekly promo codes. As a courtesy, we can waive the shipping and handling fee for Order # upon your request. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience we have caused you.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions.
Thank you kindly,

It should be noted that the 40% off is an advertised sale, so basically they chose to reply to your complaint with an advertisement.JCP wrote:Here is their response.

I know. I complained saying they apparently need to work on their reading comprehension, however ironic for a comic book retailer, and they responded with the answer I posted just a bit ago.

I just got the same message. I wonder if they reconsidered their position or some dude low on the food chain processed the original amount by accident.
