Post-Convergence
So this Wednesday marketed the first week of "Divergence" as DC's calling it with Action Comics #41, Omega Men #1, Green Lantern #41, and Justice League #41
While I've only read Omega Men and Green Lantern, I can safely say that both look promising even though Omega Men was a bit confusing with how much it left readers in the dark

Re: Post-Convergence
I read all of those except Justice League (my LCS was shorted so it's coming later). The Omega Men was definitely a little confusing and I had to read it twice. I'm glad I did because I am now really excited about this one! For those who are drawn to stories with morally ambiguous characters, this one is definitely that. I read a great interview with the writer, Tom King, who said he's not sure if he wants the readers to 'get behind' these characters. But he doesn't want us to NOT get behind them either.
He wants us to read and decide for ourselves. I also like that he has stated there is a beginning, a middle and an end to the story. He is scripting for 12 issues (but can write more if there is a demand). It will be a completely self-contained story with no cross overs. I liked it so much that I bought an extra copy to collect plus the variant.
My other favorite DC book from this week was a big surprise to me. Green Arrow. I know right!? But give it a try! The new creative team is intriguing, especially the writer who leans more towards horror. Definitely a new direction for Ollie.
DC says they are giving their creators more artistic freedom. If that's true, it will be a different DC Comics!

Re: Post-Convergence
So am I right in thinking there is no common continuity amidst all these titles? I just glanced through Justice League #41, which seems to be the status quo "DC Universe" I know. Clark Kent is the regular old New 52 Superman, Bruce is Batman, Hal is Green Lantern, etc.
But I also see comics where Clark is depowered and not in uniform, Bruce is dead and Jim Gordon is running around in a Bat-Mech suit, and Hal is no longer a GL and on the run with a power gauntlet.
I read something a while back where Dan Dido said they down what to be held back by continuity if a good story can be told. Is this an example? Justice League is telling this story while the other titles are doing their own stories with fundamentally altered characters?

From my understand Johns Justice League takes place before all the current stuff, hence why articles were freaking out about Luthor when you know he's fine, same with Hitchs JLA before the big changes.
Despite the whole story over continuity it's just not working out and is not really interesting when you try to match it up.

Re: Post-Convergence
This is the last summer that I buy monthly issues from DC/Marvel. From here on out it will be specific collected stories in trades/HCs (Omega Men, for one, has my attention).
Even with this, it seems like diminishing returns.
fun fact: a post almost-identical to this one appears in the "All-New All-Different Marvel" thread!

Re: Post-Convergence
I am a HUGE fan of the original Omega Men series so I picked up the new series. I was a bit confused with the issue because it is tied with current DC events and I am not currently reading any DC titles. I am happy they are bringing back the original Omega Men core (Primus, Doc, Broot, etc.). I hope they do something cool with it!

Re: Post-Convergence
Robocop Batman is looking pretty interesting so far and I enjoyed Batman-Superman #21 more than I expected to

Re: Post-Convergence
Chappie robo-bunny Batman is fun for now. I think I prefer Dick Grayson's smiling Batman; the book doesn't touch upon why someone else in the bat family wouldn't don the cowl but I am sure they will find some reasons.
