The Future
With Book of Death coming up I thought it might be interesting to make a list of everything we know about the future of Valiant so far along with what issue we learn it in (and by the future i mean in stories that have not yet been published, so 4001 stuff doesn't count)
-Peter Stanchek is going to become 'The Great Destroyer' Harbinger #3
-Archer will start his own religion Archer & Armstrong #11Archer & Armstrong #25
-Archer will destroy/defeat Bloodshot Archer & Armstrong #12 Archer & Armstrong #18
-There will be a "Fourth Harbinger War" Archer & Armstrong #12
-There will one day be sentient cities that create the Faraway Archer & Armstrong #12
-Archer will fall in love with Faith Archer & Armstrong #12
-Armstrong will get a 'nanite body' in place of his current one Archer & Armstrong #13
-There will be a "Third Armor Hunt" Book of Death: The Fall of Ninjak #1
Key:
Future event issue
Possible future event issue
Event that has now happened issue issue it happened in

Re: The Future
Archer already "destroyed" Bloodshot according to Fred Van Lente. It should have said "defeated", rather than destroyed.

Re: The Future
A&A #12 basically has a ton of interesting revelations to chew over
To add to the list .... The Far Away was built in response to the 4th Harbinger War
So we have at least a couple of more Harbinger Wars to look forward to ..

And we're going to get a lot more of these little blurbs in the Book of Death one-shots I'm sure.bygranddesign wrote:A&A #12 basically has a ton of interesting revelations to chew over

That pops up in Timewalker. Granted I'm not up to date with it, but it's mentioned in the first issue, at the very least.jmatt wrote:Sentient Cities.

Re: The Future
My main gripe with all that stuff Ivar said in A+A#12 is that he experienced all time arcs similtaneously - I don't believe that because he saw the 'destruction of Bloodshot' or the pairing of Faith and Archer that there's any reason any of these things *have* to come to light in the timearc that's occurring in the comics we're reading.bygranddesign wrote:A&A #12 basically has a ton of interesting revelations to chew over

If we were ourselves in a different timearc and reading the comics though...

Re: The Future
I was kinda under the impression that the stuff mentioned in A&A #12 isn't necessarily going to come to pass. Not sure if it was from an FVL interview, or something else. But just because Ivar said it didn't mean that it was going to happen? I feel like I'm right, but I could be wrong. Anyone else hear/read that?

Re: The Future
As Greg mentioned earlier, we did see Archer 'destory/defeat' Bloodshot
So that revelation came to pass - although did he really destroy OR defeat him?
I know FVL sort of gave away that the "destroy" was a mistake ... but I think they could have covered their tracks with that revelation by saying because Ivar revealed Archer's future ... he became over-confident (the time-line changed) and therefore the destroying part never came to pass.
It also could be said that Ivar never WITNESSED the fight - so therefore how does he REALLY know what happened? It could be that Archer many decades from now, in his old age and through his journals/The WORD/His religion he exaggerates the event to his disciples ... and to Ivar.
But also it may be the case that the continua prison swiss cheesed Ivar's mind - so all these revelations could be many possibilities that may never come to pass. In A&A #15, Ivar reveals to Armstrong that he has see EVERY possibility come to pass - so can any of his reveals be trusted? There may be a timeline in which Archer ends up with Faith ... but it may have just been 1 of many possibilities he witnessed in the continua..

Re: The Future
From August's solicits:
So, not only will we have some clue as to a future iteration of Unity (and maybe how they die), but we will also be learning about a Third Armor Hunt. Assuming we say the first Armor Hunt last summer, we got two more on the way!In the ruins of his mansion, Colin King hunkers down as the last living member of Unity after the Third Armor Hunt

Re: The Future
i updated the list a bit after rereading Far Faraway, main one i forgot was the fourth harbinger war (i'm guessing that Harada vs PRS and Renegades vs Bloodshot vs Harada vs PRS were the first two)

Re: The Future
What issue was it that Monk tells Harada that his role in creating the future race of the galaxy is over, and we see what future humans (psiots?) will look like? Was it in one of the Omega issues?

Harbinger #24... But was that one the condition that he step off the stage with Peter? Because we all know how that turned out. Did Harada's ego sabotage the vision?jmatt wrote:What issue was it that Monk tells Harada that his role in creating the future race of the galaxy is over, and we see what future humans (psiots?) will look like? Re: The Future
The Monk is very manipulative and likely aware that his comments would only push Harada to continue his actions.Keith wrote:Harbinger #24... Yeah. I'm pretty convinced that everything that transpires is according to the Monk's plans.

I like the idea of him as an 'unreliable narrator' of sorts. He has an agenda, which for me is better and more interesting than being some kind of cipher for glimpses of the 'future'.

I think it's a stretch to say that it "came true" (assuming you're referring to Archer & Faith), but it got the ball rolling on that potential.Brapbrap wrote:well in x-o manowar 38 another of the things ivar said came true so i think we can assume that armstrong is going to get a nanite body at some point

I'm thinking that Archer falling in love with Faith has been started in the latest X-O issue. Just a quick glimpse, but it is there.

Just saw on Twitter some major spoilers for Book of Death: The Fall of Harbinger. Not sure if it would be kosher to mention them here, even with spoilers on, since the book won't be out till September. Thoughts on that?
