Reorders on Secret Wars 1 were halted 8 weeks before the release date. So, effectively this book has been sold out at the distributor level for 8 weeks. Now, this book will have huge demand, and it's unheard of for a book to sell out that soon, or at least for reorders to be shut down that soon. Unheard of. Make of that what you will. I'm locking in copies before it hits Wednesday.

Here is a book to watch out for:

All New Marvel Point One. Could end up being the 1st app of Kamala Kahn, or the 1st app of Kamala Kahn as ms Marvel, or could be her 2nd app, but first cover.

It's a bit confusing, but one to look out for.

For the record (as of now), the "industry" (meaning "us") has said
Capt Marvel 14 = Kamala Kahn cameo
Capt Marvel 17 = 1st Kamala Kahn
Ms Marvel #1 = 1st KK titled book

All of these books have BIG time legs for the future. LOTS of heat on these books at shows.

Captain Marvel 17 2nd print I think gets higher results than the first. Reprint has KK on the cover (her first cover).

Yes. I forgot to add that to the mix of KK books. The #17 2nd print is a hard to find. I've never seen one in the wild.

It's funny, but that's the one that I had to "settle" for when I was looking for Captain Marvel back issues.

Yeah, but what is the initial print-run? I imagine it's over 100K...

I didn't run out for any today. I will probably stop in to a smaller shop I know of on my way out to a friend's birthday party on Friday.

I think it will be a week or two before SW 1 dries up. I'm sure a lot of copies were ordered but I also think the fact it wasn't abailable for reorder for 8 weeks prior to its release date is unprecedented and will come into play soon. Maybe I'm wrong but I locked in 20 more copies today and really want to strengthen my position more over the next few days while I can.

The 2 shops I went to today had hundreds of copies. 70% regular and probably 30% variants. I can't see this book gaining a ton of value for awhile. There are just too many of them. However I expect with Marvel doing a New 52 style relaunch come September, this book will most likely be in demand for a long time.

You may be right. Hundreds of copies can move quickly though, and there's no reorders on the way.

There's lots of examples of comics that had pretty high print runs and hundreds were available in stores the day of release that quickly became hot.

There were a bunch of secret wars at my shop. If this book dries up, that will further worry me about speculation once again hurting the industry. What I'm seeing is a lot of "hot" #1s gone after a week, but piles of #2 and #3s sitting there (Darth vader 3 is the exception). If a lot of people are buying first issues in numbers, those aren't readers. Hello 90s.

I think it will dry up not because of speculation but because it wasn't available for reorder 8 weeks prior to release date. As a result, this book is in a unique position and I don't think it should be used as a market indicator in any way, shape, or form.

It's killing me that I'm moving and have been unable to sell all my *SQUEE* old Secret Wars back issues. I even bought some more recently for this very reason. It's terrible being a busy person sometimes!
