I took the ad as a confirmation. I am hoping, really, really hoping, the FVL is the writer.

Re: A&A return!!!!! yay
Now if only they would bring this series (and Harbinger!) back starting from issue #26 instead of rebooting to another #1! I know there's almost no chance of this happening, but it would be an awesome move in my book. Couldn't they at least try it once and see how much in sales the first issue back receives without being a #1?

Re: A&A return!!!!! yay
Honestly, the #1 relaunch is less of an issue for me than the myriad mini-series that VEI were launching last year. I am okay with a new volume, but get that it does bother others. Arguably Harbinger: Omegas could have been part of the Harbinger series.Phoenix8008 wrote:Now if only they would bring this series (and Harbinger!) back starting from issue #26 instead of rebooting to another #1! What is more important for me is that the 'right' creative team is on this, with sensibilities that fit well to the duo and established mythos.

There are others who could undoubtedly do a creditable job, so he isn't the only option, but certainly my preference!

Right now, the only writer who I think can match the spirit of what FVL did is... Peter David. Humor, heart, creative thinking, world building and actually doing research for his books.leonmallett wrote:I hope so!Phoenix8008 wrote:So, to translate: "The writer better be FVL.", correct?leonmallett wrote:Honestly, the #1 relaunch is less of an issue for me than the myriad mini-series that VEI were launching last year. If Joe Kelly could go back to comic book writing I think he can pull it off too.

Better renumber to boost sales than to ask readers to buy a retailer exclusive to push new product.

Besides, with the added press of the movie deal, a new #1 to entice new readers to jump on makes a lot of sense.

If they pick it up again at the regular numbering, I'll buy it. If it's a relaunch, then I'm out.

That seems very narrow minded. New #1s are a fact of the comic business these days. You're willing to miss out on possibly a good or great book because of the number on the front?IMJ wrote:If they pick it up again at the regular numbering, I'll buy it. If it's a relaunch, then I'm out.

You really expect them to continue the numbering after probably a year without any Archer & Armstrong releases? If you need a petty excuse not to pick up the book I guess you've found it.IMJ wrote:If they pick it up again at the regular numbering, I'll buy it. If it's a relaunch, then I'm out.

I'd love to see FVL return to the series *if* he has a new batch of ideas he wants to try out with the characters. But I got the feeling that he had a story that he wanted to tell, and he told it, and now he's exploring other things. My hunch is that Ray Fawkes will be the new writer, since he wrote the 1%, and that seemed to be setup for a new direction. I wasn't thrilled with the one shot, but would give him s chance, but I hope he does his own thing. Asmus's Q&W shows what happens when you try to emulate what others doc with characters before you rather than breaking new ground.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

Looking at what the ValiantNext has accomplished it would only make sense to start again at #1

there is no reason to release it as #26 except to please a very small niche
if they want it to sell they will launch a new #1

how about if they followed the BPRD model and had a 'fresh' number on the cover with "## in a series" on the inside?IMJ wrote:If they pick it up again at the regular numbering, I'll buy it. If it's a relaunch, then I'm out.

Or like Marvel titles did in the early 2000's (and I think at least Superboy for DC) and just have two numbers on the cover?Paul Nolan wrote:how about if they followed the BPRD model and had a 'fresh' number on the cover with "## in a series" on the inside?IMJ wrote:If they pick it up again at the regular numbering, I'll buy it. Do away with numbering altogether and just identify each issue with a hieroglyph.Tim wrote:Or like Marvel titles did in the early 2000's (and I think at least Superboy for DC) and just have two numbers on the cover?Paul Nolan wrote:how about if they followed the BPRD model and had a 'fresh' number on the cover with "## in a series" on the inside?IMJ wrote:If they pick it up again at the regular numbering, I'll buy it. I'm thinking that it will be a new #1, but I just wonder what the title would be as Archer & Armstrong is already getting pretty long. Perhaps a one word subtitle?

I'm gonna call it. The title will be "Archer and Armstrong".
