First appearance of Flash Thompson as Agent Venom

You guys are a bad influence on me. I do *not* consider myself a collector but since hanging out there, I've been getting the itch. Then yesterday at FCBD, my LCS had their first appearance books on sale for 50% off. I wanted to get something really badly but none of the characters left (I'm sure it was picked over by the time I got there) were anyone that I really love.

But do you remember last year in the Guardians of the Galaxy FCBD offering? That scene where Flash Thompson turned into Agent Venom? Well, I was BRAND NEW to comics at that point and I just about fell out when I saw that. I instantly fell in love with that character. I got as excited over that as I do when I read Bloodshot! So I decided to look for his first appearance. Well, I found a copy on eBay and chose the "make offer" option. I bid low not expecting anything but then wow! They accepted my offer (not sure if I'm allowed to tell the details here but I would like to). So now it's mine! Yay!

Of course, in the meantime, I also had to research Bloodshot's first appearance and bought a copy of that too. Haha! So I guess I can no longer claim that I'm NOT a collector.

Just so you know the #654 is also considered the 1st agent venom.
You have the #654.1. Both of these books are considered the same thing.

Ok, thank you. I wasn't sure about that so I read a few different things and thought I had it figured out. Guess I didn't. I *ahem* am NOT a collector! Apparently.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to pick up the other issue then. Darn.

Great story, and welcome to your new favorite addiction! Flash Thompson as Venom (as was already mentioned by the of so correct Elveen!) was Amazing Spider Man 654. It was a short back up telling how Flash was chosen, and a very Spawn (original, not what it is now!) type twist. The issue is also important for the death of a major character, Marla Jameson, J.J.s wife. 654.1 I believe came out a week later and was advertised as the 1st app of a new Venom. I don't know if it was intended to come out first or what happened but that's the story. 654 is one of my favorite books and is still very reasonable at $20 or less on the right day. Flash has been a great choice for this character because of all they have done to him over the years.

I was able to pick up a NM copy of 643 for $16.50 so I'm happy. Now I have both.
