I've been buying a 35-cent copy of X-O #1 every month for the last few months. These are all great deals!

They have had some of these deals for quite some time. I have been buying 5 of any Valiant stuff discounted every month. I hope to have a smallbox of X-O 1 in a few months.
Also, their Valiant Masters: Bloodshot HC comes with a book plate signed by van Hook and Perlin.

I hope next month they have Ninjak 1 on the cheap.
I think they have The Valiant retailer covers for $12 for a set.

How do I order at these prices. I was psyched when Valiant started up again and could start collecting again! Towards the end of my collecting days all I had was Valiant titles for subscriptions. Due to financial woes couldn't continue with the new stuff very long. Waiting to come across some deals like this so I can get caught up, sooo... if anyone know of any other outlets to get cheap just reading copies please let me know. Thanks
Ken, YOU SHOULD TAKE A VALIANT.

I received this message in an e-mail from DCBS:
We have reduced your quantity on X-O Manowar #15 Reg Harisine from 5 to 4 because this is our remaining stock.
So the deal on that issue may be gone.

Yes. I just went through all their specials, and there are no VEI books on special any longer. Glad I bought a bunch while I had the chance!jeremycoe wrote:I think all of these deals are gone now.

I received this from DCBS today and they only sent me the standard hardcover. No bookplate, no signed page, nothing. I'm pretty annoyed... I emailed them and really hope they remedy the issue because I honestly wouldn't have ordered this trade in its native form.IMJ wrote:I love stuff like this with my trades. Nope, I did the same thing, and they adjusted the listing to not have that part anymore. They said you can send it back for refund, I just kept them as giveaways to folks. Yeah it sucks, must say I have not ordered from them again yet.IMJ wrote:I received this from DCBS today and they only sent me the standard hardcover. No bookplate, no signed page, nothing. Hi John,
The only version of this book I am finding on your order is the one you received:
AUG121341 VALIANT MASTERS BLOODSHOT HC VOL 01
I am not even finding a signed bookplate edition available to order in our system or Diamond’s. If you have a product number we could refer to, or an ISBN, that would help us look into this issue.
Thank you for your business!
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Ashley

DCCBS isn't even acknowledging that the signing was an option in the order. I can't believe it. I replied:

Ashley,
Thank you for your reply. Please talk to your management about this. It's a huge problem and is currently the talk of Valiant Fans.com where many of us were snubbed. Your people have also changed the Bloodshot solicitation, and the part about the signing has been removed from your website. This book won't be at Diamond as it was originally solicited on your website as an exclusive. Basically DCBS pulled a bait and switch on us with this and it's going to be a problem, given that there is no suggested resolution nor was there any announcement of the change that I am aware of.
Thank you,
John

I think accusing them of bait-and-switch is a little much. I don't think they intended to deceive anyone. They have so many items it would be nearly impossible for them to keep all the descriptions updated. I think what happened is that when they ran out of their original amount of the Bloodshot books they just reordered more without changing the description, which is normal operating procedure when they reorder any book. Allowing a return is about as much as I would expect from them in this situation.

If you want to show them proof that they initially offered it with the book plate, refer them to this file on their website:
http://media.dcbservice.com/downloads/August2012.xls" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But like I said, I think this doesn't amount to any more than an honest mistake.

I agree, and I'm happy to let it go once DCBS resolves the issue and demonstrates that there was an honest mistake made. In my opinion, people who ordered this book should have been notified of the change, but where not.jeremycoe wrote:If you want to show them proof that they initially offered it with the book plate, refer them to this file on their website:

Re: Crazy Valiant Deals from DCBS! 70 to 35 cents each!
As the one who first used the expression in this thread, I can agree it is too strong if it implies a deliberate act. Unfortunately it is not an isolated incident and they have been reluctant to admit their mistakes. When I write it, and when I see it in IMJ's email I don't see an accusation, only an attempt to inform them about the impression their continued honest mistakes give. That information is good for them as their main problem is a reluctance to admit they can do wrong.jeremycoe wrote:I think accusing them of bait-and-switch is a little much. Their reply to IMJ indicates a will to make things right, but it would have been much better if they had immediately identified and admitted an honest mistake instead of making IMJ identify it for them. Keeping my fingers crossed everyone will end up happy.

Re: Crazy Valiant Deals from DCBS! 70 to 35 cents each!
Since IMJ answered that above, I assume you're asking me for my personal opinion. What's evident is that they should accept a return at their cost (of course including the original shipping cost). Most normal companies would send a voucher or similar as an apology, but that's not a requirement, that's just good PR. I also think they should show an understanding that listings never should be changed retroactively. If they cancel a product they should make a new listing for the replacement. Can also mention that I have given up on DCBS for many reasons, with the straw being when they misread a listing and tried to blame VEI. In my experience they have a culture of blaming others and it would be better for both the customers and themselves if they change that.doodlebird wrote:So what should they do to make it right ?

Yeah I thought they should just let you keep the mistaken item and refund you the money. Anytime I screw up in my eBay store, or at my own store that I used to have, that would be something I would've done. Epecially considering their size I would think they would be OK with that.
