What's with the staple alignment on this one? I always thought Valiants were a lot better about alignments, miswraps, centering (Rai 3 notwithstanding), etc., but this looks abysmal. Just wondering if this isn't so unusual to those of you who have seen large quantities.

LOL - The staple alignment on the 1s were awful, and they were all VF at best. He's a nice guy and a fair dealer. It's just his pricing on this was based on an unrealistic view of current pricing, which at the moment is bananas. I did pick up a flawless X-O 4 from him at a fair price, and a nearly flawless Harbinger Pink (we'll see where it grades, I'm really not sure).

Again, he's a good guy, but he's unrealistic as to these books, which he generally does not trade. He usually trades in big books. In fact, when I was there, he had 6 slabbed Hulk 181s, among others. He does have a Darque Brew in the original box with a small card. I saw it. He asked me what they go for and I advised that they usually go for $20-30, and with the card (which is just a photocopy) it's probably in the $30-40 range at tops. He wouldn't sell it, thinking it was worth more. I saw one sell a few months ago for $25. I bought mine for much less, albeit that's before the news.

That's crazy. I used to use these for packing material. In fact, when I bought the 14 long boxes of Valiant, I only grabbed a handful of these because (a) there are so many copies and (b) it's an awful cover. I've missed out on key books before because I didn't know better or I was too gun shy to pull the trigger. However, I have passed up on buying these in NM for pennies, knowing full well what it is. I've left more money in the long box on this book than any other. Yes, yes, yes, I still have a couple dozen copies, but I've passed on hundreds of copies on the last 6 months alone.

About a year or two ago I sold a ton of my Valiant comics. I included free copies of Rai 0 in every order.

Safe to say Harbinger #1 CGC 9.8 is the top Valiant book again. This one sold for $750.

Just made a real nice sale of VEI back issues. Of note, the astute buyer bought both copies of Harbinger #2 first print I had listed at 5.19 each.

Harbinger 2 is the first Darpan. I think 5.19 is too cheap for that book.

Ultimate Comics was the one blowing out the Bloodshot Reborn 1:100 for as low as $15 recently. Given the two that I bought from them, and the exclusive variant and a 1:20, I would expect several spine splits in this $199 copy.

I wonder what Harbinger Wars 3 1:50 would go for now? That was always a hard one to find.

I'll cover my signed HW 1 1:50. Great cover.

Maybe a year ago or more, somebody was posting how they could purchase like unlimited variants from this seller at cover price. It was a whole convoluted process but I definitely remember that name.

There are still only 450-500 of the BS:R #1 1:100's out there. So while Ultimate Comics, mmcomics, PlanetComicsDirect, and SSaleFish have all offered multiple copies for under $25 each, that doesn't mean that the quantity printed has somehow increased.

I suspect they are just trying to liquidate after large orders of BS:R #1 to cover their initial investment and turn a profit quickly. However, this is STILL a 1:100 variant. The market has not figured out yet what is going on, or what will go on, and right now Valiant Fans and Collectors like us are several steps ahead in this game so it will take a little bit for the rest of the world to catch up.

My prediction? There will be more than 500 people looking for a copy in the near future, and will buy them for more than the $20-$25 we are seeing now.

Rumor has it that the HW #3 1:50 variant is the rarest of all VEI books; a point that will soon become MUCH more visible in a few minutes when people start looking for (and NOT finding) a copy.

Wow! I see they've doubled their price on that book in the last 48 hours. Impulse creations is really going to be rewarded for the massive number of VEI books they've been purchasing.

Not that I'm criticizing this logic because it makes sense, but the problem with variants (for me anyway) is it seems like a total guess which ones will increase in value/stay in value over time, and which will just die away. I absolutely love the Lemire #8 variant, but I just couldn't see myself paying that much for an alternate cover on what I saw was an arbitrary book. Also, do you have a source for the rumor that this book is the rarest of all VE1 books? I know it's hard to find, but there's many of these 1:50s that are really rare....

I find the later X-O 1:50 issues much harder than the HW variants back when they first came out. Some of the early Bloodshot variants were also very hard to find. That issue number 3 Bloodshot variant took me nearly a year to get.

Speaking of the 1:50's, the X-O #6 Zircher variant seems to be one of the easiest to find. I've grabbed multiples for cover price lately because I love the Ninjak homage, but does anyone know why there seem to be piles of them around?
