Unity #17
What a weird issue, Livewire's new suit was interesting and I like how it looks like the X-O Armor but was the implication that she has sex with it??

Re: Unity #17
That would appear to be the case. Which makes sense for someone who can create and interface with any machine- sex robot seems like an obvious invention. Bold of Valiant to go there.Brapbrap wrote:What a weird issue, Livewire's new suit was interesting and I like how it looks like the X-O Armor but was the implication that she has sex with it??
I really liked this issue. Unity killing her personal life makes sense, but you still get the feeling that she's someone who will think and build her way through any problem. If they could think of a good hook for it, this makes me more interested in a Livewire solo of some kind. Not that I needed convincing...
The new additions to Livewire's powers were interesting. So she has a nano-suit with similarities to XO tech that she can form from the gem part, and it allows her to fly. I think that would be a good candidate for also allowing her to form weapons and therefore, she may now actually get what appear to be robot hands for combat! The suit should be able to do that, and it makes Livewire a much more formidable superhero. I like it.

This was a good issue... we've needed more info on Livewire and we got some. I also like the "journal" aspect, since we've been missing that from Archer.

Re: Unity #17
Cool issue, I liked the bank robbery scene and the Harada flashback in specific, and all the little details of what it's like to be Livewire were incredibly well done (just as they were in the last 2 issues). I know nothing has technically happened but this is already shaping up to be my favorite arc of Unity, especially since we already know Palmer will be making his triumphant return.
The autocorrect joke was kinda funny, but it doesn't make any sense at all unless the memory log was literally transcribing her thoughts into print (which I'm pretty sure isn't the case in the context of this story/the Valiant Universe). Another thing that didn't make any sense was Livewire's suit (specifically the flying) also, when did she even get this suit? Off-panel/between issues? It's cool, sure, but birds can fly because of their hollow bones not just because they have feathers
9/10 Great issue, a shame that it's being completely overshadowed by Bloodshot Reborn. (I didn't even know it came out! And according to the homepage of this Forum, Bloodshot Reborn was the only issue released today)

There are so many variants for Bloodshot Reborn #1, the banner at the top of the page doesn't have room for Unity #17.blujay wrote:9/10 Great issue, a shame that it's being completely overshadowed by Bloodshot Reborn. I'm not complaining, though, because that code is graciously provided by ValiantDatabase.com's Martin.

Re: Unity #17
Actually impressed with this one, Kindt has been driving me Bonkers but this arc is damn fine indeed.
My ONLY question is WHEN THE HELL DID LIVEWIRE HAVE TIME FOR THIS 'CHRIS' DUDE?
I don't remember her being very old in Harbinger, and she was with Stronghold for some amount of time. Given the nature of the Harbinger Foundation, would she even have been able to fraternize in the outside world?

I like the concept but I hope it doesn't become X-O Junior, and the floating orb aspect takes it too far in that direction, imo. Just too similar, visually.hunter_peterson wrote: So she has a nano-suit with similarities to XO tech that she can form from the gem part, and it allows her to fly. Moreover, the 'cone of silence' aspect is making it too utilitarian to just be something that she tossed together off panel. She didn't have it in Unity's faceoff with The United, so where and when did it come from? It's existence should be a bigger deal than something she cooked up and just left hanging in the closet.
Oh, and the suit converting to a dinner dress reminded me of the X-O bike for some reason.

One of the Armor Hunters. Maybe? Or possibly Charlie Palmer... it'll be curious to see what they're talking about. Could be something else. Maybe even Divinity?Keith wrote:So more on the mystery mission... what is GIN-GR storing and having to keep docile?

I dunno, I feel her whipping up new tech off-panel helps to solidify her as Valiant's premier gadgeteer and super-scientist. She's the Reed Richards/Iron Man type. But I do agree we should have seen more of that before now, where her power set is dramatically elevated.
Really, what we need is a Livewire 0 about her developing the tech she uses today and charts her evolution as a character. For this level of tech to be believable she must have been working on it under Harada, too...

Re: Unity #17
Well, I think her expanded ability to create tech coincided with her new found communication abilities post Shanhara merging. We did briefly see some electric shock tentacles way back in Unity, but the similarities to Shanhara in its design seems very likely to stem from her connection to it. There was also the Commando tech recovered from the Russians in Armor Hunters which she could have used as a basis for some of her own suit, combined with PRS nanotechnology.hunter_peterson wrote:jmatt wrote:I like the concept but I hope it doesn't become X-O Junior, and the floating orb aspect takes it too far in that direction, imo. A few questions about this issue, but I absolutely loved the character development of Livewire. She can totally carry her own title. Great character, amazing powers that can constantly be built upon. She's going to be huge.

Another fine character issue but I'm ready now to see what this big battle is all about. Considering Nelville's first mysterious package held a future Geomancer, I'm hoping for a similar big payoff with his second mysterious package.
Hm, a budding crush/romance between Amanda and Colin eh? Interesting.

Re: Unity #17
Enjoyed this issue a lot
Livewire + Gin-GR = Unity for me - those 2 should be the one constant for this series
I would not mind seeing EW leave and have his own adventures with the new geomancer
And Ninjak do his own thing in his own series. I actually think he is better on his own and guest starring on Unity every once in awhile
I really feel like a whole new Untiy team with Livewire as the leader makes a lot of sense. I think she can carry the book with a new team easily.

Another decent issue for me. I can see the comments re: the sudden drop-in of new tech, but at least it felt like an extension of what she can do.
Going forward, I would like to see the 'rotating chair' dropped for a couple of arcs, as that is a concept that has grown a little tiresome for me. I hope if Palmer joins that he stays if there isn't going to be a HARDCorps book any time soon..
