Where is Cary Nord?

I don't see him listed on any of the eight Book of Death titles, Aric's wedding or Dead Drop. I don't think we've seen him since Days of Steel (have we?).

I'm hoping in the back of my mind that Dysart's relatively light workload (just Imperium) means he and Nord are furiously working away on a big, secret project...

Yes i believe on twitter Cary said his exclusive with Valiant is over and he is working on something new= maybe creator own?

Cary has been dropping hints for quite some time now in his FB that he is doing his own project. I think from what he posted, he has taken a Stuart-Immonen turn in his drawing style (that is, from a bit photorealistic to more cartoony art).

Before he posted those pieces, he said this on January 20:

"What would compel you to try out a new comic book series?"

And on January 18:

"2015 is set to be an epic year! There are many exciting things to look forward to!"

But he is still doing some amazing Valiant covers. Remember when he said this?

"The next time someone asks me to draw a cover of every single hero they've ever created in less than two days I'm going to say NO."

This is the result.

Ouch, I had no idea he'd left the fold.

But that BoD cover is great, I love the way the sun completes the top of the skull. Very inventive.

The art for his new project looks great, too. I'll give it a whirl, has he ever written before?

Shame he won't be doing interiors for VEI anymore. He was definitely my favorite artist. Still, his output was minimal, so it isn't a huge blow IMHO.
