Hmm. Shadowman related or Eternal Warrior related? Or both? I could see the title referring to either the House of the Dead or the Deadside...

Re: CBR: Valiant Teases 'Book of Death'
Well that's potentially awesome!

I really hope this has to do with Shadowman and Master Darque.
But I'm confused about why this is being marketed as "some of its biggest superhero teams." The only active "teams" right now are Gen. Zero, Unity, and Harada's group

- Especially "dude." And "balls." Those terms work in the tech industry.

I hope we see a bit more of GIN-GR. I like him. It opens up new world's for the Valiant Universe.
The title makes me think of Darque, Shadowman and Punk Mambo.

Some thoughts... I love the art. It looks like they are being sucked into something in the background, and one that stood out to me was Rai being in the middle. So a unifying time type event?

Robert Gill? That may be the best piece I have seen from him yet. Very nice.

Re: CBR: Valiant Teases 'Book of Death'
Keeping in mind that Master Darque's stated goal was to (paraphrasing) "kill all who suffer the cruelty of birth", basically killing everything on Earth in order to slap God in the face for creating a world full of suffering...I'd say "Book of Death" would be a great title for that kind of event.

Re: CBR: Valiant Teases 'Book of Death'
Hints at something in the Shadow-corner of the Valiant U.
Also note that Punk Mambo, Dr. Mirage, and Shadowman are prominently featured in the artwork which is another nod towards them being central to the 'Book of Death'.
Do I also see the older Shadowman in the background??? Looks like a teaser imagine of the VH1 design... I'd love to see both Jack and Maxim St. Clare in this universe...

I really hope this is a Shadowman centered event, he's one of Valiant's coolest (and most underutilized) characters and Milligan has done a great job with the series so far. Can't wait to see how they tie the entire universe into this neglected little corner.

Re: CBR: Valiant Teases 'Book of Death'
Damn this company needs a public relations consultant, that teaser image was horrible! Nobody is talking about it outside the niche Valiant fandom. Even within, nobody has a clue what it is. Assumptions that it might be related to SHADOWMAN which has been out of print is laughable. It's so forgettable that I don't think anyone knows who SHADOWMAN or even ETERNAL WARRIOR is. This ad is more confusing and dissuasive than sparking any intrigue or speculation that teasers are suppose to do. When the public doesn't know the pretense, its not going care about this supposed "event".
Sorry but this company is always going be clawing for pennies on a sticky floor if they go this route. There's no room for growth permanent amateurs.

Re: CBR: Valiant Teases 'Book of Death'
Yeah, someone pointed out over on CBR that they likely misread the text in the teaser. It listed Harbinger Wars, Unity, Armor Hunters, The Valiant and then Book of Death. Which clearly is meant to put this up there with their biggest launches, but isn't a list of involved characters. Quite misleading, that article. They should have someone who knows a but about Valiant write the related articles.TheFerg714 wrote:Well that's potentially awesome!![]()

Um... you mean doing a teaser for a story, the same as every company does? It's possibly the least controversial thing ever. The only obvious problem is that CBR didn't have very good reading comprehension and misrepresented the teaser. Nothing else you said makes sense- they shouldn't use their characters because marketing? Confusion is bad, now? Re: CBR: Valiant Teases 'Book of Death'
the teaser image is very cool and intriguing. feels very vh1-esque, has a slight bws vibe. i guess this means:
1. a new punk mambo mini
2. a new dr mirage mini
3. a new shadowman book
i was pretty confident they would announce the return of gk3 as this summer's event. but the characters are probably too much associated with dynamite right now, so we'll have to wait for 2016 for that.

Re: CBR: Valiant Teases 'Book of Death'
It was just an image showing that there's gonna be a big crossover event encompassing every character. You're reading way too much into it. I'm sure we'll get more info at Wondercon. Nobody knows what it is because it's a teaser image. That's the point.cray_ws wrote:Damn this company needs a public relations consultant, that teaser image was horrible! The book is called BOOK OF DEATH, Shadowman has been gone for about a year now (promising a return), and Shadowman's on the freakin cover. What's really laughable is that you think Shadowman has nothing to do with this.Assumptions that it might be related to SHADOWMAN which has been out of print is laughable.
You're a very negative person.Sorry but this company is always going be clawing for pennies on a sticky floor if they go this route. There's no room for growth permanent amateurs.

I'd say the important takeaway from this teaser is it features the whole Valiant Universe. Might this be our first line-wide event?

cray_ws is more clueless than negative. How many pennies are in $100,000,000+?TheFerg714 wrote:You're a very negative person.cray_ws wrote:Sorry but this company is always going be clawing for pennies on a sticky floor if they go this route. There's no room for growth permanent amateurs.
Oh, that's right... TEN BILLION PENNIES.
The comics are the foundation content for the various media that make the company money.
Like $100,000,000+.
No one makes $100,000,000+ after three years of just selling comics.
cray_ws ... ummmm, try Google.
Valiant and DMG

Re: CBR: Valiant Teases 'Book of Death'
I think Armor Hunters is (and definitely should be) classified as a line-wide event. It took up 5 out 9 books from Valiant the months it was going on.Keith wrote:I'd say the important takeaway from this teaser is it features the whole Valiant Universe. Might this be our first line-wide event?

Re: CBR: Valiant Teases 'Book of Death'
I'm hoping it's not a company wide crossover
A 3-4 issue prestige format mini mostly featuring big characters from the dark corner of the universe who don't have books at the moment (Shadowman, Dr. mirage, Punk Mambo, Darque) is what I'm hoping for.

If it's important enough to threaten the Goat, then it's important enough to threaten everyone.
Sounds interesting either way. Hope it does signal the return of Shadowman.

I'm guessing this will be written by Lemire and spinoff into a new Shadowman series also written by him. He hinted at a second book a while back with a character who likes the dark.
