Great news. I hope this investment gives them a big boost towards launching some great movies. And also keeps them free from worry so they can continue to maintain a published line of books that adheres to the highest standards of storytelling that they can aim for!

great, if not completely unexpected news.
i guess we now can finally stop arguing about their publishing strategy and nitpicking if their publishing is profitable or not. with those numbers finally out, nobody should care anymore. they're a content creating company and they were from start. we'll have to see if their films can compete with dc's and marvel's but before we're getting there, we will get some nice comics from vei. because they will need some excellent comics to base their films on. good times for us readers.

also, i'd say the acquisition of the gk3 is a done deal, by now. expect them to have a news release about that soon.

but it's only 100 million and movies are way more expensive to make. How are they ever going to make a good movie with only a 100 million?

Re: Valiant, DMG, movies & more!
Nobody I've seen actually quoted the actual amount as 100 million. '9 Figures' means 100 million at a minimum, up to 999 million, but more than likely near the low end of that spectrum of course.FormerReader wrote:krylox wrote:DirtbagSailor wrote:Krylox...?![]()

Dino has been clear from the get-go that his main goal was a deal like this one.Phoenix8008 wrote:krylox wrote:DirtbagSailor wrote:Krylox...?![]()
great, if not completely unexpected news.'not completely unexpected'?? Was there an article or announcement somewhere I missed hearing about that hinted at this? For me at least (and for many from the other responses I'm reading) I'd say this was the definition of 'completely unexpected'. If you've got an inside line on seeing the future, then congratulations. What out there led you to 'partially expect' news of this sort I wonder? Not trying to be funny or facetious, I'm honestly wondering if there was more info out there that I hadn't heard about somehow.

Re: Valiant, DMG, movies & more!
I understand that and agree, but having it as a stated goal doesn't mean it's 'expected'. If I set myself a goal to work hard and become a millionaire, by the time I got there someday I don't think it could have been said to be an 'expected' outcome. Desired and worked towards, yes, but unexpected regardless. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy as a clam at the news of this deal and glad as heck for Dinesh and company to be achieving their goal in this way (on the way towards fulfilling bigger goals, no doubt), but I had no clue it was actually about to HAPPEN!ckb wrote:Dino has been clear from the get-go that his main goal was a deal like this one.Phoenix8008 wrote:krylox wrote:DirtbagSailor wrote:Krylox...?![]()

i talked about this scenario multiple times, especially in the sales numbers threads. of course you never know if it works out, but their strategy seemed pretty clear.Phoenix8008 wrote:krylox wrote:DirtbagSailor wrote:Krylox...?![]()

I've been very pleased with the discussion at various sites and message boards. I know our crew of VFans has been active, but there's a lot of positive and excited comments out there over this beyond just us.Phoenix8008 wrote:Also, the news is churning up great interest and commenting on reddit as well!
The news has also been picked up by just about everyone, too, so even the general awareness of VALIANT has grown tremendously from this announcement. Exciting stuff all around.

The more news sites that carry the story, the better (obviously), but especially the entertainment sites that are not strictly devoted to comics. Spreading awareness of Valiant characters to the broader entertainment industry is ultimately going to have a major positive impact on the company as a publisher, I think.

Re: Valiant, DMG, movies & more!
I think a world is ready for a more mid tier universe in terms of budget. Bloodshot could be made for Dredd money, if you make Shadowman a horror with a bit higher budget than the average horror budget, Archer and Armstrong i am not sure what budget would be needed. Start with Bloodshot i say.It would not surprise me if DC would fail to execute it's grand plan. If we take away Batman and Superman the v universe is more appealing. Hope china does not mean that Bloodshot's politics will be toned down or done away with.
Re: Valiant, DMG, movies & more!
Well I imagine DMG will help take a small amount of the budget off of Sony in the Bloodshot movie much like they did for Disney and Iron Man 3.Lady Oiorpata wrote:I think a world is ready for a more mid tier universe in terms of budget. I am surprised that DMG as a group would try it again considering how they were kinda burned with Iron Man 3.
