I had heard rumours about DC's "Secret Origins" #10 that was supposed to come out today - small print run, already going to second print, something about Batgirl's origin this time, but neither shop I was at today had any copies, and the one I ended up asking about it at said they didn't receive it, hopefully next week.

Anyone have their shops get this today? I am just curious, as I heard it will be a pretty easy flip.

I thought it was a Poison Ivy origin and drawn by Stepan Sejic. But that's just from Twitter. I'm probably wrong.

I don't follow the book, but the guys onthe CGC board were saying that it was about Batgirl, and we are supposed to find out that Barbara Gordon isn't Batgirl and it is some unknown in the costume. I did see a SO#6 on the shelves that was Poison Ivy, so take that for what its worth.

ASM 4 2nd print is real tough to find, in case you do.

If you can find secret origins 10 get it. I will bet it is 10-15 by this Saturday. It has a big story point for Batgirl. I went to 7 stores and called a few more....all out.

Also seeing Silk 1 is up $7. - $13 here in LA LA land, though some places still have copies on the rack.

Tales of the Spider Verse 2 4 th print came out, also very low print run. Very few stores even bothered as they are focused on Spider Gwen 1.

Ant Man 1 also starting to get some attention.

That's all for now!

If places out here are out or don't have a certain new book, what does that mean for peeps that dnt have 30+ comic stores within and hour drive of them like we do?

Modern speculation is tricky, but there are a few things a foot right now.
I'd be shocked if I was not asked for these books this weekend.

Well, it's weird. I have access to 2 comic shops. I can almost guarantee you that there will be a few copies this weekend and probably even next week. Marvel and DC are ordered heavily by these shops. The rest, not so much. (In fact, for most of the indies aside from the hit Image series my LCS doesn't even order a copy because he doesn't want to take a chance that it will sit on the shelf forever.)

Because they order DC/Marvel heavily, but don't have a lot of foot traffic, the big books tend to be available long after release. They don't get snatched up. My regular LCS never marks books up either. If he qualifies for an incentive cover, he puts on the shelf at cover (he rarely qualifies, though). IF a book is hot and going for big bucks, he leaves it at cover. When the Harley Quinn 3D cover was going for big bucks, he said he had 4 copies all that were sold for cover.

I think in SoCal, there is a huge demand and knowledge of these market forces. Here, not at all.

I know that there are a lot of variables involved in collecting. Like you stated obviously LSC play a part. The bigger the market, generally the more aware the clients become. That in turn can then drive the emarket. Once that is rolling then smaller consumers start to hear things and then they get involved. I would offer TOSU #2 as a example. It took a minute before it went wild, but not long. Secret Origin 10 didn't even get released before it sold out. Obviously the Bleeding Cool article and then the Internet drove this one. Walking Dead went the other way. It was a slow build with word of mouth that made it hot. Remember this was a book nearly cancelled TWICE for low sales. I'm not trying to prognosticate here because obviously no one can, but I wanted to share what I had learned in my first foray into the world in over three weeks. Just reporting basically lol.

My haul today was pretty good two out the way comic shops one in a very small town of only 3,800 that one I did the best at

First shop

picked up a few more Secret Origins #10 and also another Munchkin #1

Zombies vs Robots #1 & 2 also but my biggest find here was this

Image

Full run of Alias #1-28 for $49

Second shop did great

Image

all for cover

and a mix of both right here

Image

lucifer #1 I picked up for $8 that still gives me some meat to make since it going to be an NBC show
