Doesn't seem correct. It's GILL-add.

Pronunciation changes over centuries. Languages undergo vowel shifts. English and German both have undergone what are described as Great Vowel Shifts. It is possible that in the 70 or so centuries Gilad walked the Earth that the accepted local pronunciation somewhere was GIL-add.
