In the podcast Chiclo mentions different breeds of dogs.
I have visited a variety of zoos and animal parks.
At a quite unquie zoo in Bolivia, quite large but only contained one animal.
It was a Shih Tzu.

Wacky. I like it.Phantom wrote:In the podcast Chiclo mentions different breeds of dogs.

I went to the Amarillo zoo sometime last year or in the year before. It was disappointing because about half of the animals in the zoo were either simple barnyard animals or animals we commonly see on the 50 mile drive home from Amarillo. The Coatimundi were pretty cool, though. Like an exotic racoon.

I think my biggest problem with Tolkien's books and all the spin off films is simply that he worked too hard to make fantasy serious business.

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
The Hobbit is definitely not serious business. It is fun and light-hearted. That's what stinks about the movies. They have the same tone as the LotR trilogy. It also sucks that The Hobbit movies came after the LotR. It all flows better emotionally. (I think Peter Jackson must have read the LotR first, as his love of the elves is way too much for someone who was introduced to the world through The Hobbit.) When introduced via The Hobbit, you are almost forced to see the world through the eyes of the hobbits. You would be hard-pressed to not have a very soft spot for the dwarves and a suspicious mystery about the elves. It sets you up perfectly to have that all torn down to rip your heart out in the LotR. When Sam and Frodo have almost lost everything at the end, you feel the same pain they do. It feels like innocence has been lost.Psiot X wrote:I think my biggest problem with Tolkien's books and all the spin off films is simply that he worked too hard to make fantasy serious business.
The Hobbit is good fun for all ages (the book, that is). The LotR is for pre-teen/teen and above.

The Hombit book is pretty goofy. I re-read it about a year ago, it wasn't as good as I remember it being when I first read it about 25 years ago.
The Lord of the Things, however, holds up very well.

Hey guys ~ great eposide. Sorry I didn't contribute with a list.
Any change of the focus of future eposides?
More chance to respond, given the time scale of the quick turnover of recordings.
Just askin.

Now that I have seen the Hombit we should record an episode talking about what all was wrong with that film.
