The Valiant #3

Great issue, loved all the spread pages showing off the different Valiant heroes, feel like a couple of them weren't used very well (not sure why the H.A.R.D. Corps were just standing back and shooting guns at The Immortal Enemy). Bloodshot's pouches being full of beef jerky is also hilarious.

That was fantastic! Each issue has been better than the last, and I can't wait to see how this all goes down. What's in the damn box, already?? Shadowman? :?

My only complaint/wish would have been for the issue to be bigger so we could make the fight appear longer. All those characters... it would have been awesome to see more about them.
Good Morning, that's a nice tnetennba.

I loved Bloodshot's dry as hell humor this issue, hopefully this is a sign of what's to come in Reborn #1

Gaaaahhhh...so good! That fight scene! The Immortal Enemy is so bad *SQUEE*!!! What's in the Box!?!?

I have a feeling Ivar may end up playing a part in the note to Neville. Maybe even Kaye's childhood book.

So the only major characters not in that fight scene were Pete Stanchek and Shadowman, I believe. Still MIA for both. I suppose Harada isn't on MI-6's speed dial anymore, either

Can't wait for the next issue... :!:

I quite liked it. I do wonder how it would've gone had Peter been there or even Shadowman. Ones massively powerful and the other has dealt with magically power super beings.

Also, I don't think anything is in the box it's a prison built for Flay

Speaking of Peter, what if the box actually holds The Visitor that Ivar somehow leapt through time and imprisioned?

I've been staying away from this mini only ad I wasn't sure where this fits in the broader Valiant U continuity. Anyone know? I.e takes place after AH or concurrently with Imperium....

Absolutely a great issue again. This series has been a perfect display of how the art and story should work together. The colouring is fantastic too. I'm really enjoying the Bloodshot & Kay relationship ...... it's definitely a highlight. I think Bloodshot is going to find out he's more human than he realizes.

It definitely takes place after Armor Hunters, and I'll say it takes place after The United arc in Unity as well, based on certain characters. I suspect it takes place between Enter: Armorines and Dead Hand, but there isn't anything confirming that.

Gotta be post AH, Gin-GR is among them. And I suppose now that the IE is the single strongest entity in the VU. He took everything that every hero could deliver simultaneously and wasn't fazed in the least.

You would think Aric could simply grab him and whisk him off to Saturn or something. If his power is derived from the Earth, he'd be out of commission soon enough.

Also thought it was interesting that we couldn't see any 'worst fear come alive' for Gin-GR, I though that might come into play. Or was the giant hourglass her fear? Is time running out for Gin-GR in some way?

The art is good but something about it doesn't click for me. It's.. I dunno... simplistic? I can't quite put my finger on it; the faces and expressions are very good.

My thoughts on this... the hourglass was for Ivar. I think you can see him in it. And maybe GIN-GRs fear was witnessing what was happening to everyone around her. After seeing her parents and herd wiped out as a baby, maybe she is afraid that will happen again, this time to everyone she cares about on Earth?

That's actually pretty good. She's afraid that her third family will die, after she lost her herd and the Armor Hunters.

Likewise, I thought the giant Goat crushing Quantum was funny, but appropriate. Woody is afraid that Eric will be hurt and he'll be powerless to stop it, Eric is afraid that Woody wouldn't be able to save him and the Goat is afraid of hurting his sons. And the giant goat with Superman powers is scary on its own, but that could also be the Goat's fear of becoming a monster. Surprisingly clever.

I also liked Armstrong turning into a giant head that only binges. Shows he knows his flaws.

The Armstrong thing was disturbing. I wasn't sure if he was eating all that, or throwing it up.

Good points. In terms of IE being whisked to Saturn, I don't think it would matter. I think he would just disintegrate and reappear somewhere on Earth. I'm not certain he is an individual entity at all, but a construct of the Earth itself. So the bigger question is: why is the Earth creating/empowering something to kill the Geomancer?

Loved the issue but I am wondering if it will tie in/ be referenced in any other titles or if it will be like the first X-Files movie and barely be mentioned. It is pretty traumatic to have all of them together trying to Kill one foe and barely making a dent.

Maybe in the last one EW opens the box in 4001 and gets something that can defeat the IE, then Ivar comes to take him back to the very beginning to defeat IE and thereby undo what has been done? Something like that would be pretty epic.

I am pretty excited for what it could be! They have done a great job doing things that keep us all guessing :) But whatever IT is I don't want to know!

I had the same thought about taking IE off world. Or, Ivar grabbing him and taking him through a time arc somewhere to another time. And just say "we'll worry about him then".
Strange to see some of those heroes fight side by side. HARD Corps, with Gen Zero? Pretty sure that alone is (has been) a mini series.
Not sure thought why they called certain heroes though. Like, "hey punk mambo", we've got this thing, so could you come outta the swamp and kill it for us? Gee, thanks."
Would have loved to see the battle more drawn out, and longer, so we could see/hear some of the individual heroes thoughts about it.
But, it's cool of Valiant NOT to extend the battle, making this mini into a longer mini, and just capitalizing on a line wide crossover... which this clearly isn't. I wonder if other titles are going to mention this event happening? Reference it in some way? Or will it all get swept under the rug? It's clearly present day, right?

So the Geomancer will heal everyone with nannites so no none dies? Maybe the Eternal Enemy just almost killed everyone, wanted them to suffer for hours.

I'm thinking that in the end, it's going to come down to Kay and Flay. Even trickier, I wonder if Kay can 'read' Flay and confirm that he's part of/a force of 'The Earth'. If so, the correct answer might just be to give in and tell him to take her if that's what the Earth wants. That may be the answer Flay is waiting to hear. Self sacrifice and acceptance may prove that humans have evolved enough to not need to be wiped out by another plague/disaster/etc. Flay is very amused in this issue by Gilad 'never learning'. Maybe evolution is what he's waiting for.

I agree. In the end it may come down to some meta-physical plot construct like defeating one's inner fear renders the bogeyman impotent, with Kay pointing the way.

Be that as it may, their powers are inert against him. Doesn't mean he can't be vanquished, as you suggest, but it does mean their innate talents can't defeat him even en masse.
