Reading VH1 for first time
I am new to the board, so hello to everyone! I have been reading the new Valiant universe since day 1, but felt overwhelmed thinking about getting into the VH1 books. I have recently started picking up cheap VH1 books when I can find them. Slowly putting together a pre-Unity collection. I am really excited to start reading the books though! Especially with the wealth of info that is on the boards here. You guys really know your stuff!

Re: Reading VH1 for first time
'Evening, RS52! Much like you, I'd read all the VEIs with next to no VH1 familiarity before joining this board. Since October, I've read quite a few old Valiants, and my approach might help you organize your reading. I picked my top three VEI characters and decided to buy an entire VH1 run of only one of them; the selection would be determined by the best (i.e., cheapest) deal I could negotiate with a seller. Bloodshot got the nod. While reading the old issues, I paid attention to the interior VH1 ads and based my next title pick (A&A) on those, just as if I'd been choosing a new series to follow back in the '90s.
However you do what you do, enjoy it!

Re: Reading VH1 for first time
For me, the hunt is over. Now, I just have to make the time to read everything.risingspirit52 wrote:you too! I am enjoying the hunt.

I agree with Tony_H and pick a few titles you enjoy and read it that way. I tried reading VH1 in the original release order, but I am just not smart enough to keep track of every storyline. I guess that is why I let my monthly VEI books stack up until I get a full arc. Easier to read and follow for me.

Good luck on the hunt and happy reading!

Michael

I may have to start doing that, considering I have a short box full of about 15 issues from every series.Tony_H wrote:'Evening, RS52! Re: Reading VH1 for first time
Welcome! Something I did when I was on my quest to collect them all was print the checklist. It helped me not get (so many) duplicates.
It also helps if you're not sure what the "value" of a certain book is-or the scarcity.

Re: Reading VH1 for first time
I've taken the buy when I can find it for cheap approach. I've got a couple of the really early trades that have really helped a bit.
