I voted and not crazily as we caught some heat for that from the last poll. I figured with VEI expanding fan base I didn't need to that. Huge win for them!n

Super obvious choice, IMO. Even if the other events out there were half way decent, ARMOR HUNTERS was damn near perfection. Literally how an event/crossover should be handled. Either way, glad other people saw that too.

I'll admit it...I voted exactly twice. Just because Armor Hunters was twice as good as everything else.

Not sure I can join in the congratulations. Stuffing the ballot seems a hollow win, right?
Of course voters for other crossovers may have done the same, but we don't know, and the point is that it is effectively hyping something rather than it standing purely on its own merits. Sorry to be the voice of dissent.

But doesn't it at least show that VALIANT fans are huge supporters of their product? Marvel and DC sell like 1000x more comics than VEI, but can't get enough fans to vote for their events in a pollleonmallett wrote:Not sure I can join in the congratulations. Believe me, there are plenty of their supporters on the CBR message boards...way more than for VALIANT...but of those who read both, many said they were voting for AH.
Of course, having three or four events listed on the poll for Marvel and DC definitely spread out their voting, too.

Re: VEI WINS CBR POLL FOR BEST EVENT OF 2014 - ARMOR HUNTERS
I would argue that the admissions of multiple voting demonstrate only two things: one that the poll is flawed and skewed by multiple voting; and that indeed some fans are very eager for their choice to 'win'. My point is the idea of congratulations seems odd for a poll that has been rigged - what has in fact been won? A ballot stuffing contest ultimately?BugsySig wrote:But doesn't it at least show that VALIANT fans are huge supporters of their product? While not akin to hanging chads, or the back-slipping that may occur in any election involving uncle Bob Mugabe (both mentioned only for comedy value and not as serious analogy!), basically the admissions of multiple voting really render the result less meaningful.

The poll is flawed, no doubt about it. But if that's the case, why not take advantage of that fact? No doubt fans of other companies are doing the same.leonmallett wrote:I would argue that the admissions of multiple voting demonstrate only two things: one that the poll is flawed and skewed by multiple voting; and that indeed some fans are very eager for their choice to 'win'. They may be, they may not be. For a start, is the fan-base of each as passionately engaged to do so? We simply do not know. No certainties essentially, and therefore, what can really be taken from the 'win'?jeremycoe wrote:The poll is flawed, no doubt about it. But if that's the case, why not take advantage of that fact? Which underscores that the assumed popularity or perception of superior quality of AH based on this poll is basically meaningless; therefore what has really been 'won'?jeremycoe wrote:That Valiant fans are more "passionately engaged".leonmallett wrote:They may be, they may not be.
