Has this been delayed?
Amazon has a 12/16 street date but typically they are 2 weeks behind the LCS outlets and other online comic trade distributors so I was figuring it would've been out already. Diamond as of now doesn't have it on the list for next weeks releases either, which would be the 12/16 date.

Is this going to be Eternal Warrior Masters all over again?
God I hope not!!!

Atom! said it's coming. They just want to get it right. I don't think he gave a specific date.

I'm guessing late December or January.

Is there much reason to get this aside from the fact that that a few of the earlier issues are ridiculously expensive?

If you like nice, thick hardcover collections of your favorite comics then there are plenty of reasons to get this. Also, there will be extras like original art.

Diamond's own PreviewsWorld website (http://www.previewsworld.com/Home/1/1/71/952" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) lists this as coming out Wednesday, so I think it's fairly certain to be out this week.

I think they made a error on their exclusive cover, it shows a Layton cover but the credits say Quesada..lol. Little typo just struck me funny this morning! :kidaround:

I'm getting this cause I love having collected HC editions. It's just much better than pulling out the single issues from each bag & board as well. I really only bought the Q&W one as a show of interest in this type output from VALIANT--it's core superhero fare!
I've not decided which cover to get though.
I so hope VEI does a vol.2 to complete the run!!

I wonder which character is up next for the Omni treatment?

Ive never read sny stuff from the original Valiant. This recommended?
Does it tell a contained story or is it crossovers galore?

Wow, Valiant COMPLETELY BLEW IT with this omnibus.

I've never seen such a bait and switch swindle before.

They advertise the omnibus as oversized, but when you open it up, the comics are reprinted REGULAR sized, with huge black borders all the way around them! And I don't mean the black borders are around the art - the black borders are around the white borders of the comic page that are around the art! I would laugh if I wasn't crying.

Shame on you Valiant.

How's the coloring if the pages? Is it as bad as the x-o birth book? Or did they clean that up

facepalm

Why would they even do that?! Surely that wouldn't be any more cost effective than just filling the pages, would it?

This may make me safe money by not buying it. If they wanted to keep the original size to make it a more accurate reproduction, they shouldn´t have made the omnibus oversized. But i doubt it, this is a screw up of someone, maybe they´ll give us an official reason as to way this is like this.

I'm reasonably sure I'm in the minority here, but I'm not bothered by this at all.

I mean, okay oversized generally implies oversized artwork, but calling it a "bait and switch" is a bit much. The trade itself is, in fact, oversized. That said, Masters editions are currently priced at $40 for an average of 8 issues. This was 2 1/2 times that cost, so 20 issues. Only its not. Its 32 issues. Buy it on Amazon or DCBS for $70 and thats barely more than $2 per issue. Thats an impressive HC edition for less than the cover price of the issues it contains and far less than back issue prices for just #1-6.

So yeah, I'm getting mine.
I wonder what it would be like to be a lonely, muck-encrusted monster? Probably be an improvement.

LOL When I started reading this thread, I clicked on the DCBS link to buy this. In the same sitting by the time I got through the thread I decided not to. The whole "just over two dollars an issue" argument isn't enough for me to double dip when I bought these books back in the day and also in back issue. Now if I can find this Omnibus for 40 bucks or less? Then maybe....
