Oh Great Archie is rebooting
Yup the all new more serious Archie "modern" series because they haven't tried and failed horribly before with that.

I forgot there was mention of an Archie tv series, live action, which probably has something to do with this.

Re: Oh Great Archie is rebooting
I've not read an Archie comic, about Archie, since I was about 12.
I didn't even care for the After Life w/Archie enough to sample that.
I will sample the companies upcoming Dark Circle imprint line for their superhero line relaunch next year though.

I will too! I'm certainly interested to see what they'll have to contribute to the market and hopefully it'll be something fresh, unique, and different. We already have two very big companies (Marvel and DC) trotting out the same old dreck year in/year out and we certainly don't need anotherCaptain Craig wrote:I will sample the companies upcoming Dark Circle imprint line for their superhero line relaunch next year though.

I think Black Hood 1 is on the current order form.

RIVERDALE TV Drama Based on ARCHIE COMICS Headed to Fox
“This is something we’ve been working on for awhile now, figuring out the best way to bring these characters to life for what will be, essentially, the first time,” Aguirre-Sacasa said.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Re: Oh Great Archie is rebooting
I will give Mark Waid credit he's been trying genres he is not exactly well known for (most notably crime noir and thrillers) in the last few years. I don't know what to think about his attempt at what basically sounds like a "teen drama with light comedy" though. I mean the closest thing I can think of is his lackluster (well I thought it was lackluster) run on The Legion of Super-Heroes which is basically a "sci-fi teenage superhero drama with light comdey" which is hard for most writers to balance it out and pull off and IMHO he didn't balance it out and failed to pull it off.

I am in for those. Black Hood starts in February, and a month later the new Fox series starts. I am guessing The Shield follows in April, and there are rumours of a fourth book.omega_override wrote:I will too! Re: Oh Great Archie is rebooting
I was looking over the cover art and was struck by how much they made me think of say a Quentin Tarantino grindhouse film. The old model cars, women in distress, the art, it all just blended together to give me that sort of impression. I have not seen story previews or interior art or dialogue from their new series yet. I used to read The Original Shield back in the day on occasion. Think kind of like Captain America as a G Man fighting the war on crime. Fox hunt at least sounded fun and I am curious to see what Waid might do. But I am not buying in until I see what comic fans say about it on various forums. The companies super title revamps and launches do seem disorganized from outside.

Each book is intended to have it own feel, but the Fox will probably continue in the same tone as the last series (Freak Magnet).Psiot X wrote:I was looking over the cover art and was struck by how much they made me think of say a Quentin Tarantino grindhouse film. Those variant covers do present that retro feel, but should probably be taken only as a set of covers and not indicators for story style. Like with VEI's 8-bit covers.

Say it's more like his Impulse book. Adding that Grimdark writing is just straight up lazy. Kinda makes me wish DC hadn't *SQUEE* him off.
