Anyone got a line on release date of year two Deluxe Edition

Post by Baramos »

I've been putting off buying the TPBs with the expectation that I can buy hardcover Deluxe Editions for year two, anyone have any idea when these might be coming out? The only thing I can find on Amazon is a Deluxe Edition collecting all the Armor Hunters and tie-in issues.

I understand for some series their 25th issue just came out but Harbinger for example, it's been what, four months? Anyone find a release date for some of these series?

The Quantum & Woody Deluxe vol.1 comes out in January and that will complete the list of titles that have had 12 issues to date(UNITY #12 just hit) which is about what a Deluxe has had. The exception being Shadowman.

VEI then has the Harbinger Masters and Armor Hunters Deluxe coming our way. I'm not expecting a vol.2 on any Deluxe till at least summer and suspect it'll be XO when one happens. XO will be pushing issue #40 by then.

I've been so passive about reading the Valiant titles as they've come out that I've dropped them all except for Rai, but I'll buy the Deluxe books as long as they keep the same format and bookshelf appearance, otherwise I'll just stop buying those too. I can't stand a publication world of mini-series and short-runs anymore.

The Valiant bundles DCBS does every month seem the only sane way to do Valiant sometimes. They bundle every single Valiant comic together in one order and mail them to you once a month.

I did that for awhile. My only gripe was when there was a special issue (like the Plus Editions for Rai) that wasn't in the bundle because it only includes the normal issue of everything, no variants. Usually, it was still cheaper just to add that one or two issues on top of the bundle instead of getting individual issues. Overall it was a pretty good service, especially since I didn't have a local comic store for a while there. Now our local Gaming store (Battlezone) has started stocking comics and offering subscriptions. I can't get every title like I used to, but I can't NOT get in on Ivar, Imperium, and Ninjak when they start next year, so I've started getting some again. Just gonna have a 4-5 month hole in my X-O and Unity collections for a while.

Anyone think we will get an EW Deluxe with 1-8 and Days of Steel? That would be 11 issues but they could beef it up with Unity 0 or even The Valiant. I think I'd like that.

I'd like it more if they reordered the issues so that it seems less contradictory continuity-wise. Doing it as close to chronological order in-universe might make it hang together better.

From the description on Amazon, the HC will collect X-O 15-22 and Unity 1-4. :? I wonder why they didn't include up to issue 25 for X-O? I am guessing X-O 23-25 will be part of the Armor Hunters Deluxe HC. :hm:

I think story-wise issue 25 is a really weird stopping point. I bet X-O 23-25 would be included in a volume 3 if this series of HCs continue.

My thoughts exactly.

i think armor hunters works much better with the prelude. Malgam its quite important en the whole story, and his coming and fight with aric starts the whole event with a bang.

Much of the content of this conversation is basically why I'll only read titles nowadays that have contiguous numbering. I'm not even bothering with anything else. Rai is beautiful - I'll buy that until it's FUBAR'd. I'll buy Ninjak monthly for a while too. Anything else I'll buy in the Deluxe editions at this point, and only if the represent a contiguous series, or are all encompassing. Too many variants, too many reboots, etc.

Any guesstimates as to the ETA of the Unity deluxe edition?

Or any other volume 2 books like Harbinger or Archer and Armstrong?

Unity i wouldn´t expect it any soon, since the first issues are in the x-o manowar deluxe 2, and the armor hunters one has its own. I don´t think they are gonna make us doble dip like with the armor hunters one.

Harbinger, archer & armstrong and bloodshot i could see in the second half of this year, they have enough content for those.

Shadowman i guess will depend on the sales of the first one, maybe if they release a new version of shadowman and it sells well.

Eternal warrior there is now 11 issues, so maybe at the end of the year.

Well they already did with Harbinger Wars containing material from Bloodshot and Harbinger deluxe editions.

It would be odd to do a Unity deluxe edition without the opening issues I think.

I am hoping we do see second volumes where there is enough material. :)

Maybe a page to explain how the unite. Having those first issues would mean having also the x-o ones, making the 2 deluxes to similar.

I buy every deluxe, so i dont need them, but i understand that its not everyones case.

Now i wonder if they are thinking about a hardcover version of the trades for delinquents, divinity, dr mirage or the valiant, for those of us who want them oversize and harcover to match the other volumes.

Good question.

I guess Delinquents could be repackaged with the Q&W VALIANT-size issue, and 'Must Die', so if another mini follows that, maybe that is how it could get collected.

But as you identify, there are an increasing number of books that are hard to pigeon-hole into collections without there being follow-up series for those books.

And I guess there are a number of books that may never get the deluxe treatment, such as Shadowman 11 and 12 etc.

That's a pretty hefty jump in logic to make.

If you take Shadowman 11-16, End Times 1-3, and Punk Mambo Special, you have 10 issues, almost the same amount as the first Shadowman Deluxe had. Throw in 13X or the Dr. Mirage mini and, viola!!, you have a Deluxe Edition Vol. 2 that I, for one, would buy.
I wonder what it would be like to be a lonely, muck-encrusted monster? Probably be an improvement.

I don't have the Shadowman Deluxe Edition .. but I think 11 and 12 are included. In the Amazon description it mentions Jim Zub aad Ales Kot who were involved in those 2 issues.

We might not see 13-16 any time soon in Deluxe format but eventually I could see issue #13-#16, Shadowman Endtimes #1-#3, and then another 5 issue Shadowman mini-series being the 2nd Deluxe edition.

Then hopefully a "reboot" to the character with a new ongoing series

I have it. It's 1-10 and 0. That's it, 11 issues in total.
