I think showing her body too twisted up would be in poor shape. Bloodshot "the weapon" would not waste much time on her, a quick neck snap and then bye-bye.

Wasn't Sean Mullins the dude that sang Rockabye in the '90's?
Also, Dr. Solar, your thoughts on the name of Bloodshot? :hm:
Not sure what Chaykin's story did, or what it was about. Liked every other page of the book though. Best page belongs to MissJay!

This rather confuses the character for me. In Bloodshot #0, weren't we led to believe he was a soldier killed in Viet Nam or something? I don't exactly recall...

It just now occurs to me that the lead off one-page story by Bart Sears was not a part of the next story The Glitch. VEI will frequently have two art teams on a story, with one assigned the flashbacks. Since there was no dress to announce the beginning of a different story, I assumed it was that and kept expecting to see more Sears pages until it ended.

LaRosa's art in the Glitch is phenomenal and I we see even more of him.
There's been a lot of time between Nam and now. There could have been several Bloodshot's in that time, just as was shown prior to Vietnam. I thought of the zero issue more as the origin of Bloodshot the Nanite infused body and the man behind it than anything else.
This bugs me. How is it that 25 issues in, not only are we not sure of the answer, we're not even sure what the question is.

I don't mind not knowing his core human identity, but it almost seems like they can't make up their minds as to what the character schema is. It's a nebulous mashup of hinted at origins, organizations and timelines - and I don't mean in a clever storytelling mystery sort of way; more like they're not sure what they want his origin to be.

I wish they'd finally spell it out and beat me over the head with a soliloquy explaining clearly, once and for all, the history of Project Bloodshot, soul-capturing nanites and how those have yielded the Bloodshot character we know today.

It took about 30 years before we got the 100% origin of Wolverine.

LOL-- I was thinking that too! I think it's spelled SHAWN though :) (I like a song called Amy's Eyes a bit more than Rockabye!-- lol)

And thanks :D :high-five: Lot's of awesome art in there. Glad to be a part of it :)

I think the problem is that there have been multiple writers taking on the character over a pretty short period of time .. and they all want to add a little twist while keeping with the main character premise (Once a killing machine for PRS, now free and on his own, trying to figure out his true identity while kicking *SQUEE* in the meantime).

All the little twists make it even more tangled and complicated ... but i think it can get reconciled.

I'm going to be interested in what Lemire does with the character. I know he is going to also want to do his own thing/twists ,, but hopefully editorial will get him very familiar with these open ended plot points from BS #0 to the Glitch..etc

The main question I have from this issue is ... Was Mullins the host body for Bloodshot or an implanted REAL memory of a soldier that died?

If it was implanted REAL memories ... How was that done?

I think a good explanation could be that they get these memories by using the nanites. The nanite blood SWARMS the dying soldier and then the nanites upload the memories to a PRS mainframe. So these nanites would be a little different - their mission would be to collect data instead of creating a new bloodshot.

PRS can then download these REAL memories into Bloodshot when they want to...to create the new motivational narrative.

That would reconcile why he has these very detailed memories of a real dying soldier ... while also perhaps having the same host body of Bloodshot #0.
Ha! Yeah! Nice! Any of those dudes in your head mosh?! - Flamingo

It's amusing how Bloodshot's origin is still so unexplained and confusing, given the original series explained it in the very first issue! If the new iteration is taking too long, then the original definitely jumped the gun waaay too early. Myself I prefer the mystery in the Acclaim Bloodshot series, which was developed at an effective rate. Granted, Acclaim's Bloodshot is an extremely bizarre semi-pretentious actioner, so one's mileage may definitely vary with that incarnation.

Really enjoyed this issue!

The main story was superb and I enjoyed the focus on Bloodshot was more reminiscent of the early issues if this run which I wish they'd have continued with rather than introducing HARD Corps. Plus having the 'right' artist on Bloodshot makes a big difference too (as opposed to the wholly unsuitable Luppachino).

Still not sure I like the shape/image shaping power he has, (he verges on being over powered) however I did like how Milligan wove this into the main story.

4/5 - roll on Bloodshot Reborn!

The shape changeling is supposed to be pretty limited and only lasts a brief amount of time. At least that was what DS established. I think it's a cool extension of his power set, but it can be easily overused. The one story had him in disguise for way too long, for example.

Yeah, that's right...it was only supposed to be for short periods. :? Generally speaking, don't you feel BS is over powered though? He's virtually unkillable, can re-grow limbs etc?

Bloodshot = best Valiant character ever.

This issue proves that.

I love the mystery, and I think it is done in a creative, intentional way. They are putting us in the same boat as Bloodshot - he has no idea who (or even what) he is.

I'm fairly certain he is only nanites held together by meat that they assembled based on a model human(s). The psyche/soul/mind/whatever were synthesized piecemeal over the past several decades.

He's an entirely unique life form (well, I guess Lysander - who I hope we see again soon - would be a similar entity).
*SQUEE* your science, I have a machine gun.

An underwhelming whole for me. The Glitch was not a great opener, because I felt it didn't line up with what I thought I understood about the memory implants side of things. Because that didn't work for me, it took me out of the story throughout. Not the first time with Milligan in that regard.

Loved the other two main stories, but overall, these #25 anniversary issues have been a really mixed bag to me.
