Enjoyed the rest, too. I'm really ready for Bloodshot to get back into his own thing now. The past couple months (and maybe even the Armor Hunters mini a bit) has left a -- rudderless -- feeling? I'm looking forward to The Valiant and Bloodshot Reborn to get things back on track.

Weird, my LCS didn't have this today (and Bloodshot has been on my pull list since the launch).

Great tribute, loved the issue.
Sean Mullins. Have we seen that name used before? Is this perhaps our first glimpse of Bloodshot's real former life?

My comic shop didn't have this and still hasn't gotten Harbinger:Omega #3. I have no idea if they are getting short changed or what, but it is kind of making me mad.SJS4 wrote:Weird, my LCS didn't have this today (and Bloodshot has been on my pull list since the launch).

I agree. I've enjoyed the last couple of issues but they felt like filler. I would have thought there would have been a preview or something to lead into Bloodshot Reborn.Keith wrote:Really enjoyed Milligan's story, that last page was shocking/upsetting/horrible/<insert your emotional response here>.lorddunlow wrote:Ibero wrote:Wow, amazing stories, having Duane back, and with Kara and pulse in there. overall a solid issue. Some of that kiddie art was distracting though I have to say that tribue to Atlas with the guy drinking the blood nanites was HILARIOUS!
That one scene was pretty harsh and unexpected.

Yeah, the story illustrated GORGEOUSLY by Lewis LaRosa was absolutely brutal. Makes me glad that he took out that military dude during his escape from PRS (can't remember his name right now).david_albuq wrote:overall a solid issue. Re: Bloodshot #25
I loved the art in the first story, thought maybe we would get some glimpse into Bloodshot: Reborn as well, some of these story points felt a bit recycled, but I dug it none the less. It did feel a little like the series is in a holding pattern. It's going to feel like a loooong wait till April.
Oh and I loved the old school video game ad!

That was a kick in the pants wasn't it. Had Lemerie not taken the Bloodshot title I'd say Milligan had found a title he could be great on. Quite liked the drug trafficer story towards the end that was great use of Bloodshot blending in.Keith wrote:Really enjoyed Milligan's story, that last page was shocking/upsetting/horrible/<insert your emotional response here>.lorddunlow wrote:Ibero wrote:Wow, amazing stories, having Duane back, and with Kara and pulse in there. This is what I'm wondering. We know from the original opening arcs that the memories are fake. Cobbled together from random bits of info and blended to create "memories". Sean on the other hand was a real person, had a real life and everything. So where did the memories come from if not from the host.jmatt wrote:Sean Mullins. Have we seen that name used before? Quantum & Woody's dad.
The goat has ALL of the dad's memories up to the point of the mind transfer via technology.
That technology could be used to extract ALL of the memories of a dying soldier: his wife, kids, anger/sadness for lost soldier buddies, etc., and then transfer them to Bloodshot.
Sean Mullins was real. There are two very plausible explanations for why Bloodshot believes he's Sean Mullins. He's Sean, or he's Sean's goat.

dang it VEI... you made me use the goat in an explanation for Valiant continuity!

It was an OK issue. The main story was good, and the one with all the warlords killing each other was decent, but the others were underwhelming and there was too much filler. The ad for Nanites, the video game add, etc...
I was really looking forward to the Howard Chaykin story and it was a big let down. The art was mailed in and the story just didn't make any sense to me. I had no clue what was going on.

This rather confuses the character for me. In Bloodshot #0, weren't we led to believe he was a soldier killed in Viet Nam or something? I don't exactly recall...dornwolf wrote:This is what I'm wondering. We know from the original opening arcs that the memories are fake. It just now occurs to me that the lead off one-page story by Bart Sears was not a part of the next story The Glitch. VEI will frequently have two art teams on a story, with one assigned the flashbacks. Since there was no dress to announce the beginning of a different story, I assumed it was that and kept expecting to see more Sears pages until it ended.
LaRosa's art in the Glitch is phenomenal and I we see even more of him.

Re: Bloodshot #25
A mixed-quality issue, I'd say. In "The Glitch", the second I saw the love interest, I knew Milligan would kill her off (that guy doesn't miss a chance at dressing up old cliches in new clothes) and Larosa, while doing excellent work through 99% of the story, eviscerated the erotic horror of the climactic scene by depicting Kristen's post-coital corpse without a scratch or a bruise on it. What, she died of a broken heart? Maybe somebody got nervous about the politics of portraying the (anti)hero leaving a mutilated female crime victim in his wake, even though the tragedy of the woman's death was the point of the whole tale. At the moment, that clutch choke seems to me to be the low point of the VEI books to date.
On the other hand, the Swierczynski and Garcia story about how Bloodshot's insights altered Kara Murphy's moral sensibilities was rapier-sharp and tightly drawn; they put those two characters to wise use. "This Is You" was funny as hell, better in one page than Chaykin's story--which must've been easy money to him--was in five.

Re: Bloodshot #25
I liked this book quite a bit. Glitch was my favorite - a very emotional story despite all the action. Lewis did beautiful work illustrating it. The final scene was heartbreaking. Even in the scene before, where she asks him what's wrong, you can see the panic and fear in her eyes and expression - another excellent example of his work being able to tell the story and convey the emotions.
I thought the Atlas ad was funny - that was such a standby in old comics. Now we need a sea monkey version

Re: Bloodshot #25
I've always looked at that as merely a host. As I think there was a black gentleman who was killed during the Gulf War and tested for the whole soul thing. I don't think they ever really confirmed that was the current version of Bloodshot though.jmatt wrote:This rather confuses the character for me. Re: Bloodshot #25
I don't think I ever want to find out who Bloodshot is supposed to "really" be....I think of him as more of an amalagam of different personality matrixes, a beast of the many souls the nanites consumed.

Re: Bloodshot #25
There's been a lot of time between Nam and now. There could have been several Bloodshot's in that time, just as was shown prior to Vietnam. I thought of the zero issue more as the origin of Bloodshot the Nanite infused body and the man behind it than anything else.jmatt wrote:This rather confuses the character for me. I was also confused on the Sears page, but I think it does fit with the Dogs from the Glitch story.

There are MULTIPLE hosts that have existed over the years, EACH bearing the code-name BLOODSHOT. Some have been Italian (VH1), others of African American decent (BS&HC #0), and others Caucasian Navy SEALs (BS #25).
The nanites are the constant, and what makes each host the new BLOODSHOT.

Re: Bloodshot #25
Haven't gotten around to the rest of this issue ... but I have to say I LOVED Glitch.
I thought it was well written and emotional
The art was gritty and powerful - the colors superb
9/10
As much as i had some quibbles with Milligan's writing in EW - this was pretty much spot on good storytelling
1) There is the Host body
Dying soldier which gets swarmed by nanites ... In Bloodshot #0, The Scientist is able to capture the soul of the dying soldier which allowed Bloodshot to maintain some humanity/Consciousness
2) There are False Memories
And, correct me if i'm wrong, I believe these false memories have no basis in reality... These are completely made up narratives.
So yeah ... I think the fact that Sean Mullins had a real wife and him and his friends really did die from IED's - It does seem like Sean Mullins was the actual Host body.
So it looks like PRS was using the real memories of this person as motivation ... but at the end overlayed the real memories with false memories to create a new narrative for Bloodshot to follow. I would think that not using his REAL memories and using the FAKE memories would for the most part solve the "glitch"

Do you really think Bloodshot would have to pound her bloody to kill her?Tony_H wrote: and Larosa, while doing excellent work through 99% of the story, eviscerated the erotic horror of the climactic scene by depicting Kristen's post-coital corpse without a scratch or a bruise on it. The image of her ... lifeless on the ground ... is devastating enough.
Portraying her as bloody and bruised would be completely unnecessary - A quick snap of her neck would do the trick.
