Dysart, Asmus, Greg - you guys are on a roll! Really enjoyed these last few episodes.
I was trying to put off the Dysart episodes until I finished my Harbinger reread but ended up caving it after I finished Brand New Day. Interesting insights from him, especially concerning the death and his rationale behind it. Great work, gentlemen!

Oh cool, gotta make time to listen to the history of the boards. Great idea for an episode, guys. I think I'll be working on some art tonight so I'll have to que this one up.

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
Just finished the incredible interview you guys put together. Thanks!Dr. Solar wrote:BOOM.
In the second part of our complete Harbinger discussion, we discuss Resistance, Bleeding Monk #0, and Death Of A Renegade.
We also talk about some overall thoughts on the 27-issue run of Harbinger.
This continues where we picked up from the first half of this interview. If you missed part 1, get it here.
Much like most of the hosts, I too could not stand what Pete did to Kris in the first issue. I was extemely disgusted and dropped the book after issue 2. Only after hearing a lot of other podcasts (John Mayo and company on the Comic Book Page) discuss how good the first arc was, I then gave Harbinger a 2nd chance. I haven't regretted it since.

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
Listened to Episode 6, discussion about the X-O Manowar hardcover.
Question: Am I correct to assume the extra stories in the hardcovers have nothing to do with the current continuity of VEI? I'm still trying to build a reading set of VEI before I read them, so I've only read the first issue of X-O and not much else. Are the original hardcover collections VEI did now out of print?
To Chiclo: Not sure if anyone ever mentioned this (didn't see it brought up in the original discussions on this podcast), but where the heck did you come up with that information about the X-Caliber character? Barry Windsor-Smith created him? Smith working on X-Factor? I do see that BWS did a random issue of the Excalibur series for Marvel, so I assume that might be where you got that from, otherwise I have no idea.
Hopefully no one is annoyed about me bringing up stuff from old podcasts, a lot of this stuff is either new to me or stuff I just don't remember.

X-Caliber (in VH1's XO 3) was a creation of Steve Englehart originally used in Coyote. He would be very disappointed to hear otherwise! I did not hear that OTV yet, were they talking about something different?Brother J wrote:Listened to Episode 6, discussion about the X-O Manowar hardcover.

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
I'm going through the earliest OTV podcast, so this is back in Episode 6. Chiclo brought it up because of the name change from X-Caliber to Sniper in both the trade paperback and VEI hardcover. Only problem is he started out saying that X-Caliber was created by Barry Windsor-Smith while he was doing a run in X-Factor, neither of which happened. Dr. Solar later corrects the error by giving the correct information about X-Caliber being a Steve Englehart creation first used in Coyote.ckb wrote:X-Caliber (in VH1's XO 3) was a creation of Steve Englehart originally used in Coyote. It was this exact information that inspired me to go out and purchase that very issue of Coyote so that I could own the first appearance of "X-Caliber." The issue was #6 if memory servesBrother J wrote:

Clearly I was mistaken on the details. It happens. I blame the fact that I probably had read about Steve Engelhart and got my wires crossed. Folks, sorry we didn't get an episode out last weekend. We were a little behind on recording, and work and other pressing life matters have kept me a little too busy to squeeze in OTV. We should have a new episode up this weekend though!

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
Episode 13, about forty minutes into the hour long episode:
A couple late comments/questions:
1. Has the number of gay references gone down over the years? Boy, it's starting to sound like there's at least one in most of the early episodes. Not that there's anything wrong with that...
2. Does Chiclo still have a hard-on for Dark Horse? To hear him in this episode, one would think Dark Horse had *SQUEE* him off over something at some point.
3. Defiant1/Quato gets a mention on the podcast before myself? Yeah, I know I'm not really that interesting, but still...
Anyway, still enjoying going through these again.

Hey Bro J.,
Glad yer diggin' the classic "OTV1" episodes
As a former listener-turned Co-host, I can say that yes, the show has gotten more family-friendly over the years, C-Lo digs DH (the "Comic's Greatest World" properties...Chiclo, please correct me if I'm amiss), and we do occasionally mention the board and members, in no particular order of preference

Thanks, Jonesy. All the ones I'm listening to now I've heard in the past, just kind of neat to go back. My questions are mainly tongue in cheek, really. I know I get name checked at least a couple times in future shows. What I'm looking forward to is getting to the ones I haven't heard before and seeing how long it takes me to catch up with the current shows.JonesyAZ wrote:Hey Bro J.,
