Re: Kjjohanson's NYCC coverage
I spoke to Bob Layton a bit (actually joined into a conversation that he was having with Jesse). He mentioned that he's been speaking to VEI about working on something for them. Sounds mainly like stuff that he wants to do, and sounds interesting, but that general indicators from VEI we've seen suggest we're not going to see any time soon. Basically he wants to tell a story like Alpha & Omega but describes how VH1 died and gave birth to the new universe. He also mentioned that he'd like to be credited with co-creating the original Valiant.
I asked Clayton Henry whether it was too early to be inquiring about Timewalker pages. In short, there's no time that's going to be good to inquire about Timewalker pages, because he's moving to working digitally completely. Basically he still has a lot of original art, and he was producing it quicker than he's selling it, and he can work faster if he's all-digital, so it makes finacial sense. Cover art will still be done on boards.
I picked up a couple of original pieces and will post tomorrow.

Lots of artists going that route... not much "real" art for East Of West, either.

Re: Kjjohanson's NYCC coverage
I never got into original art, so I don't mind it. I love looking at art though, so digital art is really cool.
I spend an inordinate amount of time looking at art on DeviantArt - professional and amateur. There are a ton of absolutely amazing artists that aren't even working as artists. It is so strange.
Miss Jay is awesome - she really should be working in comics for real. Grendeljd too.

Re: Kjjohanson's NYCC coverage
Well, one thing you can say for OA - there is only one of them. The book could have a prnt run of 30K or 300K, but that art is one-of-a-kind.

Definitely. I understand why it is appealing to others. It just doesn't interest me.slym2none wrote:Well, one thing you can say for OA - there is only one of them. The book could have a prnt run of 30K or 300K, but that art is one-of-a-kind.

Re: Kjjohanson's NYCC coverage
No, but I think that's the difference between Snyder and Jordan. People are probably expecting massive value jumps from Snyder, considering what happened with the early New 52 Batman issues.slym2none wrote:Was the Spread con exclusive that bad?

(No offense to Justin Jordan, of course; it's just that there's not a clear positive speculative indicator with his books.)kjjohanson wrote:No, but I think that's the difference between Snyder and Jordan. Audio now available: it's not the greatest quality, but I think it's audible. If anyone knows how to up the volume of the voices without the applause getting super-loud let me know and I'll try to adjust:
