Just stopped by justin Jordan's table. Asked him if he will be doing anything for valiant in the future. He mentioned that they've discussed him writing something but his schedule doesn't allow for it at he moment

Re: Kjjohanson's NYCC coverage
I'd love to see him come back to the fold. The issues of Shadowman he was able to let loose on were some of the best VEI single issues to date. I've also enjoyed his humorous strips in the 25th issues thus far.kjjohanson wrote:Just stopped by justin Jordan's table. Asked him if he will be doing anything for valiant in the future. Re: Kjjohanson's NYCC coverage
Panel is tomorrow. I will be there and will attempt to record and post to the board. Sorry about the dearth of coverage today. I realized early in the day that my battery was running low so I needed to conserve energy. Will have my charger tomorrow so that will not be an issue.Keith wrote:Will you be attending the panel on Saturday? Hoping someone will be there who can report back to us schlubs.
What I can say is that I managed to cover my obligation to fellow boardies today, so that makes less errands the rest of the weekend. Yay!

New news on Quantum and Woody ....
James Asmus will be teamed up with Steve Lieber for a four-issue limited series called Quantum and Woody Must Die!, due out in January. Editor Alejandro Arbona came up to the stage to discuss the project. "It's like a whole new story for these characters," Arbona said. "Things are going great - they're in couples counseling... but they realize things are not right." The series will join these two sort-of heroes as they investigate.

Re: Kjjohanson's NYCC coverage
So far the only new news is the Q&W mini. I think that format works best for these characters. Just put them out there for a few months a few times a year.
Have to say I love how into VALIANT Lemire seems. The guy is super talented (as are the other creators) and I hope he sticks around for a long time.

Re: Kjjohanson's NYCC coverage
Don't know if it's been covered in the Q&w thread since I'm not reading the board now, but the Q&w mini seems to be the first in a series of minis.
Shadow man was asked about. Seems there are definite plans but they're hush hush on it now.
The original title for The Valiant apparently will clue us in on something but they didn't say what if was.
Lots of interesting discussion about how the pieces were put in place for a lot of the new titles. Someone tell me the best way to upload audio

Yeah I agree.BugsySig wrote:So far the only new news is the Q&W mini. I think that format works best for these characters. Just put them out there for a few months a few times a year.
Q&W are "cartoon" characters that makes for a nice lite humorous read (with some social and cultural underpinnings and satire ..blah blah blah). There should be very little concern over character progression or continuity (for the most part).
So you should be able to pick up a TPB .. and not really care whether its the 2nd or 8th one in the mini-series collection. Above all else, It should just be a fun read.

Re: Kjjohanson's NYCC coverage
A question was asked about expanding the line at the panel. Dino said that they may end up with a book or two more or less some months but for now they want to keep in manageable. I think it was Lemire who commented that when a company is publishing 52 books ( to choose a random number) you have some writers on books that don't know what's going on in other books before they hit the stands

Re: Kjjohanson's NYCC coverage
Some highlights while the day is fresh in my mind, my phone has charge, and my feet are convalescing.
1. Jeff Lemire and Matt Kindt are awesome and everyone on the panel seems to be having fun and want to work with Valiant. Great company and the future looks good.
2. The Divinity will be the Solar class character(my paraphrasing). The idea came from Warren Simmons one word title description for next Unity arc and Kindt spun it in to the intro of a cosmic godlike power that will show why the Valiant heavy hitters need to be around a to face these things.
3. Paolo Rivera's art for the Valiant is sick and the 4 issue series seems like it will focus on Gilad, Bloodshot, and Geomancer Kay. All characters will be there at one point and story revolves around an enemy Gilad has faced and failed against 2 other times whose mission is to kill the geomancer. The difference this time is that he has allies. If the Geo dies an age of darkness happens and Rivera enjoyed drawing Gilad in different periods covering a thousand years.
4. I'm excited for Ivar. VanLente described him as intelligent like Reed Richards but ruins lives like Constantine. Romance and time travel to happen from dinosaurs to you name it.
5. Finally, I love Dysart's work on Harbinger and the new book will feature a Toyo outed as a superhuman for the first time still trying to save world by any means necessary and looking to gain powerful allies.
