because I didn't bid the amount up higher... :P

I was suprised to see it go so low, as well. It did say VF/NM so that could have something to do with it. I personally didn't go higher because I already have my set, but I couldn't see letting it go for less than $75-80. If nothing else, you can flip it right back on eBay and make a bit more.

*SQUEE* :P I wonder if the timing of the auction had anything to do with it. the VF/NM tag definitly would have put people off but $80+ is still just over half what this should go for. Who usually bids on these, Aug002? has he been artifically increasing the price of this?

It's the "VF/NM" description and the bottom right corner that stopped me.

When a book has a corner like that, there's a chance that there are
more damaged areas that don't show in the (usually bad) picture.

But, I'm still hoping you got a nice one!!! :)

Ok....do you see a different picture? I can't see what's wrong with the bottom right corner...just some discoloration?

And as far as being cheap....dunno about that. ;)

It looks like the cover is bent/creased at the corner, maybe 1/2 an inch...

I'm not sure why the scan is so "white"...
The sky behind the characters should be a little darker,
but that could just be a strange flash/angle on the photo.

I assume he's happy paying less, but was just curious if the rest of us had somehow missed this auction or if there was some other reason. Heck, whenever I get a good deal on eBay, I wonder the same thing!

Also, I wanted to say I thought Dino got a real nice deal on the Predator vs. Magnus TPB that ended the other day, as well. It was in VF, but considering what this book usually goes for, anything below $50 seems like a decent deal.

Reading the CGC boards, I see someone just got back the first graded copy of the Pred/Magnus trade in 9.6. I'm betting it won't be long before we see that one on eBay.

Maybe the 'timing' had a bit to do with it. It is the end of the month and payday is right around the corner. I usually plan auctions on or about the 1st and 15th of the month. (I mean us Army guys have an option of getting paid twice a month at those times. Me ? I am responsible enough to blow my entire paycheck within the first week instead of having it doled out to me... LOL) How do folks here on the boards get paid ? Once a month, bi-monthly, weekly ? Just curious...
26 per year (bi-weekly)...but I get all my checks for June, july and August at the same time (first pay period of June) :D ...When I first started teaching got paid 9 times per year...that blew big chunks... :P
Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?

I get paid on the 15th and 30th of every month...so 24 paychecks...sucks a little bit since there are a few times where it is a little more than 2 weeks between paychecks and I am very used to getting paid every 2 weeks...

Not 50,000 transactions, just that I bid on 20-40,000 items a year. Last year, I registered 37,984 entries with eSnipe. Oy. ;) But I'm lucky if I win 2-3% of those bids. I'm the consummate bottom feeder.

Speaking of....I just won these:

...and I've never been much into the Silver age stuff until now....but hey, it's cheap, and cool, so here we go!

By the by...how scarce IS the last issue of Solar? (1982)

I get paid every other Friday and walk home daily with some cash in pocket. Being a waiter isn't all bad, $25 hr tips plus the feeling of accomplishment that you get to FEED AMERICA! I like it. Not really enough extra left over to comics though

Great job sticking with the auctions Dino, it definitely pays to stay active. Don't worry I'm out of the auction game for awhile still so get the deals now before I come back!

PS. My dial up modem drivers got deleted somehow so I've been gone for almost a month. Got Cable modem today so I'll be on the boards for at least the next 4 months... until the cable company gets greedy and ups the rate. Oh. If anyone knows how to install the drivers for an "Ambient Ham Data Fax Modem" please PM me. I've downloaded them but can't get em to work.
