Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Modern Comics
James Gunn was the one who said that he didn't have plans for the character, but all that really means is that Howard probably won't show up in GOTG 2. But this link brings up a very good point that Marvel could have plans for the character:kjjohanson wrote:I would hold off on picking up any HtD books. I heard that the end scene in GotG was mostly a joke about end scenes in comic book movies, and that Marvel doesn't actually have any plans to do anything with the character. If that's true, the price should drop when that's revealed. I don't see it getting much higher than it is now, as the expectation of a new Howard movie is probably completely baked into the price at the moment.hulk181man wrote:depluto wrote:Wow, those are going crazy already ... some dinged up copies are going for close to $100.hulk181man wrote:More bronze age than modern, but that one little bonus scene in GOTG = keep an eye on Adventure into Fear # 19....
I don't know if Blood remembers this or not, but last year in San Diego I was looking for a good copy of this and wound up buying three since they were so cheap. Now I have to remember where I put them so I can sell a couple this week.
Nice

I do doubt that they'd make a Howard film though. But he could just show up in more cameos and supporting roles, maybe like Nick Fury.

What do the fortune tellers think of the new title from Scott Snyder called "Wytches" from Image Comics?

This is legit. Guardians is smoking. I have 62 watchers on my listing where I'm selling the first issue of the current series, (it's a dutch auction with multiple copies available for purchase) and I'm getting almost 100 views a day. This will soon become my first listing I've ever had with over 1,000 views, and I've never had an item with more than 20-some watchers before. Ever. And I've had a fair number of hot comics for sale on eBay over the years. I've been shipping more packages per day because of Guardians than I've shipped in over 5 years.chriskay99 wrote:Yikes! I dunno. *But* my store had an Image preview book that features snippets of a bunch of upcoming books. Might be good to snag one of those because previews of a bunch of new books might include one that ends up being hot.mkb28 wrote:What do the fortune tellers think of the new title from Scott Snyder called "Wytches" from Image Comics?

I've got a copy of 1990's GOTG #1 up for auction, it already ended once without an opening bid and 3 days in to a second auction I only have 3 views and no watchers. It's a pretty strong CGC candidate too. So I wonder how hot this book really is?StarBrand wrote:This is legit. Guardians is smoking. Soo crazy! Obviously the CGC fetched a lot being a 9.8, but still.nutflush76 wrote:I've got a copy of 1990's GOTG #1 up for auction, it already ended once without an opening bid and 3 days in to a second auction I only have 3 views and no watchers. A little constructive criticism, I think your auction would do better if you had a scan that wasn't cropped so closely, cutting off the edges. IMO, it's always better to leave a nice border so people can see all the edges of the book clearly. A back cover scan done the same way I just described would probably help, as well.nutflush76 wrote:

One thing I think we have to remember is that this is a book where many copies have been swimming around in bargain boxes for years, so quite a few of them are going to be dinged up in some way. If your copy is truly high grade, then better scans would almost certainly help it sell.

Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Modern Comics
This is a great point. When I'm looking at books on eBay, if the image crops off the edges I figure that's intentionally done due to a roughed up edge or corner the seller doesn't want me seeing.Brother J wrote:A little constructive criticism, I think your auction would do better if you had a scan that wasn't cropped so closely, cutting off the edges. Thanks to those of you who have helped make this thread something special, by breaking out cool info on modern books that others could use. A pox on those of you who only gather info here, but never share any even though you could.
(To be clear, the pox only applies to those few who really know the modern market, but never help their fellow comic fan with knowledge here, even though they have plenty of it). You are takers, not givers! Takers, I say!
