Valiant's return has saved me from MBFS for just over two years now. :thumb:

remenders cap america in dimension z was some of the best comics i've read in a long time. The russian hatting american guy was terrible so i dropped the title.
Yes, yes, and yes.

I've been digging Nova, but I skipped Loeb's issues. What's the deal?
DC is also not free and clear in all of this either. They are picking up alot of bad habits along with the ones they have already.
Like what?

Well with Nova, I was angry that they basically tossed Richard Ryder under the bus. He's not the first human Nova, Sams Dad was, Richard despite being the so amped was never invited for Avengers, Sam is the best thing in the world and apparently worthy to join the Avengers because he ran away from the Phoenix. Sam is the best because he was created for the cartoon. Look I get it he's name after Jephs son I understand but still.

As for DC I find they are picking up the bad habits, they've already relaunched two series with new number 1's complete with ALL NEW in the title one month after ending them, they are relaunching Deathstroke again at number. They are pushing characters no one gives a *SQUEE* about, Jokers Daughter and Deathstroke.

And look I'm against the New 52, it took everything except for Batman and Green Lantern and tossed in the garbage. So when Superman is out sold by friggin Harley Quinn we've got issues.

I'm all in for the new Star Wars series announced. Gillen and Aaron writing in the same universe, one being the villain's guy and the other the fun, light-hearted stories guy- I approve this. I think someone payed attention to what these 2 guys could do with a shared "micro-universe"- they both took care of the main X-books on the post-Schism and pre-NOW days and did a GREAT job on their own and riffing on Remender's ideas for Uncanny X-Force without feeling repetitive. I can totally see this work.
And- these will be movie-level canon SW comics! :D :high-five:

I haven't heard anything about the new Marvel SW comics yet - was there SDCC announcements about it?

Personally, I'm still a bit miffed that Dark Horse is losing the license. I completely get that it was going to happen, but I don't like it. Still not too keen on giving Marvel any of my new comic money anymore (love the Marvel universe of characters, I still buy classic back issues & enjoy all the hundreds/thousands I've bought over the years, but I don't like the way they currently do business or handle the characters anymore).

Even though I was only a casual DH SW comic reader I think they deserve to keep the license.

They announced 2 ongoing series and a Leia mini: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/07/27/s ... ars-comics" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
Completely understand your stand on both Marvel (I stopped buying new Marvel books last year, exception made for MK's first 6 issues only) and DH losing the license- they really cared about the line, and it gave us so many great stuff. I love those early DHSW comics like Dark Empire or the TotJ minis.

I'm very optimistic about it because I really liked what those 2 guys did on the X-books and it's apparently what the SW line will get (2 "different" sides to a common, larger story).

From what I know Disney didn't purchase the back catalog. So no reprints of anything.

My biggest problem with all this is that Disney tossed the EU and rebuilding from scratch basically. So hurray we get to do the classic case of redoing everything we've already done and claiming it's all new. Disney tried with Power Rangers they'll try again.

^This. Exactly this.

But that's the thing.. they only relaunched two series. I'll give you that it seems a little silly to relaunch Suicide Squad, but Teen Titans was in desperate need of a relaunch. Everything before this new #1 was god awful, and simply a new creative team wouldn't have helped with sales at all.
Also, in October Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, and Batgirl are all getting new creative teams, without a new #1. This isn't really a habit DC is very fond of. Teen Titans and Suicide Squad (and Grayson if that counts) were the only instances of DC relaunching any book post-New52.
And look I'm against the New 52, it took everything except for Batman and Green Lantern and tossed in the garbage. So when Superman is out sold by friggin Harley Quinn we've got issues.
I don't know how it's the New 52's fault that Harley Quinn is selling so well... It is editorial's fault for putting terrible creative teams on Action Comics and Superman, but this can't be blamed inherently on the New 52 initiative. Plus, Action Comics and Superman are legitimately freakin awesome right now.
Idk, I can see how you could be upset that your continuity is just gone, but it helped new readers immensely. I mean, I would've never gotten into comics at all without the New 52. Universes change. :? What's the big deal?

On the subject of Stars Wars comics. I'm not necessarily happy that the one series from Dark Horse besides Serenity, and Buffy to a lesser extent, that was selling as well as the heavy hitters from the big 2 is now joining one of the big 2. It's kinda s***ty for Dark Horse and DC.
However, the idea of two concurrent series from the perspectives of the good guys and Vader sounds completely awesome.

Personally, I was able to accept continuity going kaput in DC's new universe....My problem was I didn't like any of the new changes nor storylines, aside from 2/3 of Grant Morrison's work on Action Comics.

The only things I read from DC now have nothing to do with the New 52....Sandman: Overture and Fables.

I'll probably read Grant Morrison's Multiversity when that comes out.

Thing is though, it's been mentioned that alot of those titles are selling the same or worse than they were before the reboot, so it accomplished really very little. New and lapsed readers might've come but only to replace what was lost in the change.

The only books I read from DC in the end are Smallville Season 11 and Earth-2. Earth-2 however is getting to be a giant pain in the grim dark gritty *SQUEE*.

As someone who read (AND enjoyed) a LOT of old SWEU (not just comics by ANY means), I embrace this reset. How many adventures can you "squeeze" more into the old trilogy timeline? :? At one point (a long time ago....) it became silly, no disrespect to anyone who enjoys it. :|
I'm no Marvel defender these days ( ), I hate what the company did to a lot of their AMAZING characters, but this is good, imho.

The boost in readership and sales with these resets are always short term. I do think that the DC reboot brought back a lot of new readers. While the market share is about the same, dollars being spent are much higher. Just look at Diamond's numbers year over year for January.

January 2013 VS. January 2012 +22%
JANUARY 2012 VS. JANUARY 2011 +34%

I think that's in large part to DC's reboot. Plus, DC has maintained $2.99 for most of its titles. I'm not sure what Marvel has at that price point anymore.

Okay I can admit where I am wrong. For me though the Nu-52 will just never be all that interesting. Well till the next reboot anyway.
