Turok. Read for first time
Well, in the past I have always shown my disdain for Turok titles, this is probably a result of being burned by #1 (i bought like 5 copies).
RE: my valiant collection, Turok was the last title that I decided to devote any time into collecting. Recently, I managed to obtain about 85% of the Turok issues and naturally, I decided to read them. Well, it turns out, it isn't that bad.
Sure there were some over the top stories such as the Nazi women, or the Captain Red, etc. But there were also some good quality stories and an underlying message or theme that we could learn from e.g. Turok's struggles between two worlds/cultures
THere were also some stories that were nice, but of course made no sense to me. I'm speaking of the Turok: hunted special where the white man seeks the white buffalo. The story is nice, and I understood the gist of the story, but not sure when he made the comment on how the white man is part of it all and ultimately seeked the unity of the world (?!?).
Anyway, I found it refreshing that desipte the title of the book Turok: Dinosaur hunter, he didn't spend all his time hunting honkers unlike a certain red-mini-skirt wearing, can-crushing individual that we all know...
so all in all, I gues what I am saying is that I take back my original misconceptions of Turok, and elevate it to a much higher status. Of course, it isn't that high due to the number 1 fiasco...

Turok never clicked with me. Not enough action. Too little dinosaurs. I didn't care for the portrayal of the characters or the dialog. I liked the first storyline (except for the art on issue 3) and I almost liked Bedard's arc in 17-19 (that storyline has some cool parts to it) but that's it. Guess it wasn't my cup of tea.

The character was great, but the stories were a little mediocre most of the time. It's too bad, cause they could have done so much more with Turok then they did.
To be honest, the premise they used in Acclaim was a lot more interesting. The problem with it though was the way they made Turok so juvenile, it drove away most of the fans.

Yeah, those cool Mothergod brand bow and arrows! I mean, that whole surgical steel blade in the upper bout, the technologically advanced arrow-heads! I'd give up a blaster for one of those anyday!Especially since the weapon of choice was bow & arrows!

Turok storyline
The best storyline was in Turok #4 when Turok meets Andar. Being a son of stone fan, it sent chills to me as we see the 2 reunite if only for a brief time, I only liked when Rags and Truman teamed up on Turok issues, never ever cared for the 'fake' buffed out version with him using his machine guns.....

Re: Turok storyline
There's not many who did. I actually found myself more interested in the premise of the Acclaim version with the light burden and all the cool stuff he could conjure up, but I wish they would have stuck with Tal'Set instead of Joshua Fireseed.turok7 wrote: never ever cared for the 'fake' buffed out version with him using his machine guns.....
Re: Turok storyline
Turok #0 was also one of the best issues....
