ANYTIME someone starts an Ebay auction at $10.00,
it is a clear sign that they don't really know what they're doing on Ebay.

If you start an auction at $10.00, you pay $0.60 listing fee.
If you start the same auction at $9.99, you pay $0.35 listing fee.

Look for these little signs, and bid (or avoid) accordingly. :thumb:

and another tip I learned from long, long ago (okay, like 2000 or so); if you see someone with the ebay ID valiantcomics.com bidding on something you want, feel free to bid roughly two-and-a-half times what his high bid is, because you'll still be getting a bargain!

When he first listed it, I think he wanted $250 for it.

I don't know about the two-and-a-half times rule...
but I know that this one has averaged $69 in five sales during 2005...
and I just picked it up for $41.50 (including shipping).

I keeed, I keeed!

But I will admit to using the search by bidder function way back when with you as the bidder to see what I was missing out on.

Of course, that was before those helpful bid sniping sites gave you your anonymity back...

I suppose they could have looked at the price guide and saw the gold issue and now are confusing the two.

I wonder about that very fact when I see vastly over-priced auctions. I mean, when a seller says "guide price is $XX.XX," could they PURPOSEFULLY be looking at a ten-year-old Wizard?

If that's the case, I have a few Rai #3's I'll let go for $75 each!

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

The sadly funny thing is, the first Rai #3 I bought (back in the heyday) I paid $65 for.... :|

At least I still have it!

Another cunning eBayer. He presented the comic well and got some people to bite I guess.
