With downloads and PoD, will there ever be new DU's? :)

Comic universes no longer active, Bravura, Continuity, CrossGen, Future, Malibu, Ultraverse... and others that are 'no longer with us' today (or only recently brought back).

I am currently trying to assemble issues from a small press universe that has appeared across several media (print; print on demand; download). I am focusing on the print stuff, and it got me thinking that if books are theoretically always available, can the universe ever be truly dead, even when new stuff does not appear? :D

Isn't that like asking if people can be truly dead when we know exactly where to find their bones? :hm:

I get what greg is saying.

Even if Ultraverse were available via print-on-demand and you could get a newly printed Ultraverse comic today, Ultraverse would still be a dead universe because the owners of the intellectual property are not writing nor authorizing to be written new stories about the Ultraverse characters.

I know, I know, I was only half-serious. :D

Doing some hunting reminded about 'how dead is dead' is mutable. Anyone remember Storm Quest from Caliber? Still in business 20 years on.

I think that I bought a TPB of that series years ago, but I've bought so many TPBs over the years and can't remember every one. Is it the one with a family that causes a rip in time and they get stranded in different time periods and they get married and have kids from each era? IIRC it has some early Greg Land art.

That's the one. Since they have a few characetsr from their shared universe (Sky Universe) I think I will be picking some tpb's up from them. :)
