Re: Harbinger Death
Assuming only ONE dies (one theory I have is that they might kill a couple), my top pick is Pete. Here's why:
Dysart has often been driving home the idea of Harbinger being a story of "redemption" for Peter. We first meet him as a kid who is a druggie and takes part in one of the most horrendous violations you can commit against another human being. He has come a long way, but considering Dysart sees this as an ending to the current "Harbinger" story, I think that means Pete's story might be coming to a close.
We'd get to see Dysart take a character from despicable to truly heroic and something like that would REALLY resonate I think. It's like the opposite of a Walter White transformation. It would be shocking, yet also a necessary arc for Pete in a way.
It's pretty much the only way Pete can redeem himself in the eyes of some readers, given what he did in that first issue. I hope it's not him, hell, I hope it's nobody. But apparently someone is going to die

It's the B Cover for #25. It's legit. I've blanked it out until I get it in a spoiler thread....Shade wrote:from what issue? I thought that was fan art or something. But Seriously, it could be misdirection. Many of the titles seem to suggest a certain person. I think it's to keep us guessing.

Yikes. Pete? Really?
If so, it's not a mind swap. Pete's is storing his consciousness in Kris, somehow.

I feel like that'd be a cop out. Isn't dead dead in Valiant? Just doesn't seem like their style to kill someone on a technicality.jmatt wrote:Yikes. Pete? Really?

As much as I don't want Pete to die, I want finality dammit! None of this "mind swapping" or "storing his consciousness" stuff. I need to know and I need it to be real so I can get over it. This is too stressful!

A mind swap makes no sense to me. So then that's Pete's mind in Kris' body holding dead Pete's jacket?Shade wrote:I feel like that'd be a cop out. Isn't dead dead in Valiant? Just doesn't seem like their style to kill someone on a technicality.jmatt wrote:Yikes. Pete? Really?

Agreed. I just posed my speculation as an alternative to the mind swap theory that's been bandied about.Shade wrote:I'm saying it shouldn't be a mind swap or what you're suggesting. Easy, man. Pete just puts his finger up Kris' nose....whispers "Remember", they send Pete's DNA to the Genesis Planet, grow a new Pete, steal the Enterprise from spacedock, take him to Vulcan and have some old broad put his Katra back.jmatt wrote:I just don't see how they go forward with something like that.

Re: Harbinger Death
The description of Harbinger #25 says that a renegade is ALREADY dead when Harada and Pete clash.
With one of their own dead at the hands of the Harbinger Foundation, vengeance must be wreaked…and the ultimate clash between Peter Stanchek and Toyo Harada happens here!

Maybe it will appear like Kris is dead, and then Pete, in a blind rage, dies fighting Harada.greg wrote:The description of Harbinger #25 says that a renegade is ALREADY dead when Harada and Pete clash.

Or, maybe Pete, in a blind rage, taps into all that potential power and becomes "the great destroyer" and accidentally mercs everyone. Just a thought.

Where did you get that description, Greg?
This is what is on the DCBS site (which I would imagine is given to them by Valiant)
This is what is on the DCBS site (which I would imagine is given to them by Valiant)
The blurb on the DCBS site wrote:A MASSIVE 48-PAGE ANNIVERSARY SPECTACULAR! FEATURING JOSHUA DYSART! KHARI EVANS! BARRY KITSON! JUSTIN JORDAN! RILEY ROSSMO! AND MANY MORE! Toyo Harada's last stand! The future of Harbinger starts here with a star-studded, 48-page anniversary milestone - packed with brand new contributions from an all-star cast of creators and shocking new revelations about the fate of Valiant's teenage superteam! A Renegade has fallen and, now, there is no turning back. Stripped of his allies and all sense of self-preservation, the world's most powerful 'harbinger,' super-powered billionaire Toyo Harada, is about to inflict a terrible reckoning on a world he thought he could control…and everything we thought we knew will be forever changed in its wake. Original series creators Joshua Dysart and Khari Evans reunite to deliver a devastating climax to the second year of the series that The Onion/A.V. Club calls 'the crown jewel of Valiant's lineup' - and officiates the 'Death of a Renegade' with all-new artwork and stories from an incredible roster of award-winning talents, including Dan Goldman (Red Light Properties), Justin Jordan (The Strange Talent of Luther Strode), Barry Kitson (Empire), Lucy Knisley (Relish: My Life in the Kitchen), Andrew Pepoy (Fables), Rafer Roberts (Carpool Buddies of Doom), Riley Rossmo (Drumhellar), Ron Wimberly (Prince of Cats), and more!

Whatever happens, let me just say this:
I have not cared as much about or been as excited about a story arc as I am this one in my 25 years of collecting comics.
I knew Superman and Batman would be back. I know the status quo after Civil War would be right back to normal. I have no idea what to expect from this arc and what's killing me the most is that I care deeply about every single one of these characters.
