I think I just got a great deal

Post by HUEY-MANOWAR »

I just got back from the Pittsburgh Comicon and after nearly asking every dealer there about Valiants and hearing the same response "Sorry we didnt bring any we left them behind" I finally came across one who told me he had some in a short comic box under his table and that they were a $1 a piece. So I pulled out Hard Corps #'s 1-5 since I seemed to remember liking it back in the day as well as Eternal Warrior #48 (wish there were earlier ones in there but hey it has a kick *SQUEE* cover) and X-O #0 becouse Jimmy Palmiotti was there signning. Well I gave him the books to ring up and he said there was another comic in the back of the Hard Corps #1 bag and it was Hard Corps #1 GOLD he asked me if I wanted it and I was like yea and all together all my comics I bought off of him came to $8. I was so happy this is my very first gold book and it only cost a buck and in NM too. On a side not though I allways thought the gold books had gold foil stamping and not the gold ink.

Welcome to the boards!

Congratulations on getting the HardCorps #1 Gold for $1... that's a great deal.

Most of the Valiant gold books can be identified easily by checking the
Valiant logo box on the top left. If the box is gold-colored, and if there
is no cover price... you're looking at a Valiant gold edition.

There are a couple exceptions to the rule...
The logo box is gold and there IS a cover price
on the Eternal Warrior #1 Gold "Flat" edition.

The Deathmate Gold books are actually full "gold foil" covers with cover prices.

Eternal Warrior #1 Gold "Embossed" edition is the only gold foil embossed book,
though Turok #1 Gold does have the letters of "Turok" on the book in foil.

Most regular Valiant books from 1993-94 are available far below the cover price,
so you'll want to avoid paying too much when you add those to your collection.

Sounds like you've done fine so far, though! :)
