WOW! Did someone have a "hoarder" intervention!
That is an impressive display of early Valiant books.

For the record, I didn't pick up ANY of these auctions... but I would have, if they had all been available when I first saw them.

Re: Major stash of Valiant Nintendo books on Ebay
Anyone who gets these and had a good eye, I will buy 9.8 candidates of any books that are not in my pre-hero Valiant master set, and I will pay well.
Wish I could take a chance on some of these lots. I would if he had SMB 1's or SEs. The NCS 7s are tempting.
Just not a smart way to sell them. If he had put together sets of 1 each of everything he had I would have bought 5 or more of them.
edit: Oh and be careful, he has all the titles messed up. Most of the books left are from the NCS series...

Re: Major stash of Valiant Nintendo books on Ebay
I just shot the seller a message asking what he had that wasn't listed (in case he had a few SMB #1's or LOZ #1's tucked away...).
NOTHING!
Hopefully someone here picked them up and are about to let us all know with an amazing sale!
Otherwise, we'll need to watch eBay in a few months when the flood of slabs comes in...

I don't know why anyone would want 30 copies of those books.

Re: Major stash of Valiant Nintendo books on Ebay
I'm tempted to buy a bunch and sell sets to the board. However, it looks like they aren't in perfect condition. Look at the soiling on this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPER-MARIO-BRO ... 23361c3a37" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Any opinions or interest? I have a few of these, but not many. At sub-$4 a book, that seems like a fair price.

If these were put in runs instead of buying lots of copies of one issue, I would buy a set in a heartbeat.

Same here. I have no use for 10 copies of one of those particular titles. But one of each, in a heartbeat.ckb wrote:Just not a smart way to sell them. If he had put together sets of 1 each of everything he had ...

Now I am curious. Probably more interesting in my head than reality, though.

Re: Major stash of Valiant Nintendo books on Ebay

I initially posted about my buy of the 40 Zelda # 1's in 2 lots, but then I became very nervous that I would not get the lots, so I wanted to receive books before posting. Zelda # 1's arrived today. Clearly, seller is not an experienced comic seller. The packing job was odd, books were stacked inside an empty Hefty Bag box, no bags or boards, no plastic or bubble wrap. Somehow the books are average vf to nm, and seller included 3 extra.
The number 43 seems important to seller, as he has/had a number of listings with 43 copies in lot. In my area, Zelda # 1's are hard to find, and sell very well for me at shows. I wont be sending any for grading, just putting in mylar and on my comic wall were I know I will sell 1 or 2 of them per show for quite some time. I said more in my 1st post that I replaced with a "poof" but that is the gist of this story. He also raised the prices of all his remaining Mario and Zelda books, and now knowing how he packs, I wont be bidding. I lucked out once.

Re: Major stash of Valiant Nintendo books on Ebay
That's good to hear. Whenever I really want to win an auction of a buyer that doesn't list many comics (mish-mash of random items), I make it a point of asking about shipping after the end of the auction. I'm genuine in my approach, usually saying that I'm more than happy to pay a bit more for shipping if I feel the price quoted wouldn't be sufficient to ensure their safe arrival.gcstomp wrote:![]()

That's disappointing. I bought several auctions with the intention of selling them to the board and eBay in sets at as close to cost as possible. I hope they come in OK.

I would have bought the Zelda's if I was still doing shows. It was a smart move. You should have picked up the NCS 7's and later Zelda #s too!gcstomp wrote:![]()

Please post results when you receive them. I am curious if he adjusts his shipping method. I plan on selling my Zelda # 1's at obscene mark up limit 1 or 2 per show for years, but your approach has merit as well.nycjadie wrote:That's disappointing.
