I can't help but notice we're sitting a little higher in the overall medal count than you guys though... how do you like that bacon, dunlow? How do you like that Canadian bacon? :poke:
Meh, it's the Winter Olympics. I'm pretty sure they were created for all of the countries who suck at the real Olympic Games - :P
I understand, its very intimidating to think of the extra skill & co-ordination required to perform professional level sports on ice & snow. Not every country can excel as we do. Deal with it as you see fit. :kidaround:
Canada last won a Stanley Cup in...1993? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...

Wait, how many Canadian players are on all those US teams that have won cups since then? And how many cups does that one Canadian team have, that won in '93?

But I digress... this is a chat about the winter olympics. Now, how many times has Canada won gold in olympic hockey... and the US has won... :hm: :poke:
Nobody wanted to play in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg or Ottawa because the owners were cheap, the general managers were idiots and the coaches couldn't get it done. So, how many "good, fine, proud Canadian lads" (said with Don Cherry' *SQUEE* hole voice) decided they didn't want to play in Canada, and saw those "dirty Yankee teams" as the best bet? Hmmm? Hmmm? How many of those Canadian teams decided to be xenophobic and myopic and continue to draw only Canadian Junior players and Canadians? How have those results been? No "Ruskies and Swedes and Fins" said so many Canadian fans, forgetting guys from outside North America who helped them to cups in the 80s and 90s. Oh well. My team had 4 cups and 6 appearances since Canada last had a cup. I'm not going to complain.

As for the medal count...pfft...it's sports. It's all fun.

Oops. My post may have come off as being snarky rather than light joking. This is what happens when I go posting on a tangent after a long night shift & not nearly enough sleep in the last two days! No offence intended, brother.

None REALLY taken. Same here, man. But...Olympics...that's sports. Hockey? Now that is LIFE!

It's women's hockey. Does that even count?

I am just being glib. I doubt you could pay me to care about the Olympics. It is the one thing in this world even more trivial than college football.

I would say that major league lacrosse is more trivial than the Olympics or college football but I am still trying to determine if MLLS is a hoax or not.

You have to be one of only a few people from Texas who is not enamored with college football, generally Longhorns football.

(This may be a gross misrepresntation of the fanbase of Texas, but hey it's the internet).

Longhorn fans are definitely not in the majority around here but there is plenty of that ugly shade of orange to be found.

I don't know that there is a majority for college football fans around here. OU and the Aggies have pretty big fan bases here in town. There are even quite a few Nebraska fans and probably as many fans of Oklahoma State as Ohio State.

Consider me surprised. I thought it would be heresy to be a OU fan in Texas. We are all FSU, Florida, Alabama and Auburn fans here.

Chiclo is his own man, when it comes to that. As for me...I'm with him. What is more trivial than college football? Maybe the NFL?

It still is heretical to be an OU fan in Texas. We just tolerate them because it is the 21st century.

Seriously, how could anyone be a fan of anything from Oklahoma? It is like Hank Hill said when confronting the pimp Jasper - "He's from Oklahoma."
