Spylocke!!

And Matt explaining Rai's ability to quickly travel through Japan
It's not nanites or anything, it's something else. It's actually called the Live Wire at this point, but Livewire's dead and gone in the future. It's something that she had done that enables him to do the things he does.
Great stuff

Re: VALIANT Firsts Revealed! Holy *SQUEE*
Some random thoughts:
1) Rai Rai and more Rai!!! That Kindt interview at CBR is awesome, and I am more on board for Rai than I ever was before! Curious to see how this loops in with the current 4001 arc in Eternal Warrior.
2) Bummed about Bloodshot & H.A.R.D Corps ending, but it looks like we will segue directly into the Armour Hunters mini, and then after that, who knows. The Newsarama article mentioned that there are still more announcements coming for October... I get the feeling that, though the name on the cover may change, Bloodshot is not going anywhere.
3) Generation Zero! Yes!! Baxter's monster taking on the big robot hunter!!! And I think I see Charlene on that cover as well...
4) The Delinquents... ok, sounds good. We knew some kind of cross over with Q&W was going to happen... just please don't be ending Archer & Armstrong!!!!
5) Shadowman. Dino mentions seeing Shadowman in different forms. Curious. My first thought was of Grendel, and how Grendel became more than just Hunter Rose, but almost a force of nature in various guises. I'd be on board for that!
6) Doctor Mirage. I'm down, but not as enthused as with the other announcements.

Re: VALIANT Firsts Revealed! Holy *SQUEE*
I'd agree I think Bloodshot is being broken for Hardcorps and most likely both will be relaunched around Fall.
Also, Hwen can't get a break can he be always ends up being the dead guy. Kinda surprised Mirage riding end up gay or ateast more interracial.
And Rai. I like the design but I think they might get some flack for the sun beams on his chest. I remember awhile back in UFC that George St.pierre was going to have gear with the rising sun on it and someone wrote to him explaining that the rising sun was the equivalent to a swachtika to many cultures.

Re: VALIANT Firsts Revealed! Holy *SQUEE*
I'd say comparing it to a swastika is a bit over the top. It is offensive to many Chinese and Koreans due to the history of Japanese Imperialism. If that's the reason, then you couldn't use the Union Jack or the French or Dutch flags as they have been associated with more imperialism in more countries than Japan. Actually, throw the American flag in there as it is hated by many countries. It's their flag. Makes total sense to be on the chest of Japan's protector. The flag/symbol itself isn't offensive - it is Japan and it's history that offends China and Korea.dornwolf wrote:I'd agree I think Bloodshot is being broken for Hardcorps and most likely both will be relaunched around Fall.

Re: VALIANT Firsts Revealed! Holy *SQUEE*
Well that at least explains a lot more. Seems like they are at the point where they are letting their releases be determined organically. If that means a mini series, a one-shot, a break or a cancellation, then so be it. Whatever they need to do to be successful and continue producing great comics.jthuconn wrote:Oh no!Keith wrote:Additional info... looks like it's over for Bloodshot & H.A.R.D. Corps:

I also suspect Bloodshot may end up in Unity shortly.

Didn't read the article, but only saw the covers, and people's feedback here.
Is that Pete on the cover of Harbinger & Armor Hunters? Yes, we see Torque and Faith, but is that Pete? Also, I took that big dinosaur to be Animalia. Hmmm....
I hope A&A isn't cancelled. Love that FVL will still be writing those characters. This is what so many of us have been asking for, now I hope it delivers!
Wondering what Bloodshot and Harbinger will be doing with Armor Hunters, and actually, what Harada's role will be in it as well.
Dr. Mirage.... I hope it's better than Shadowman. Maybe this is a way to give Shadowman a breather, give it time to re-work, or something, and still have a supernatural title in the universe. RDTL!

Re: VALIANT Firsts Revealed! Holy *SQUEE*
Good thoughts Keith
I'm leaning towards he won't show up - There certainly seems to be a huge contrast between the wasteland American landscape in that EW arc and the technological marvel of 4001 Japan that are in these preview pages of Rai #1.
I definitely LOVE where Kindt is heading with this title and 4001.
Maybe HARD Corps will be relaunched as its own title in October.

I've sort have been going back and forth on whether Rai will show up in this current EW arc.Keith wrote:Some random thoughts:

Issue #25 would have been August so its surprising that they would re-launch or cancel before getting to the anniversary issue. Just speculating, I think HARD CORP and Bloodshot will break up in issue 23 (June). They'll do this mini for maybe 2 or 3 issues. And than Bloodshot will continue (without HARD CORPS) with issue 24. I can definitely see them re-launching Bloodshot at some point as well. And it wouldn't feel like too much of Gimmick if done right. Perhaps a new person takes over as Bloodshot (after he is destroyed by Archer)2) Bummed about Bloodshot & H.A.R.D Corps ending, but it looks like we will segue directly into the Armour Hunters mini, and then after that, who knows. I wonder if Gen Zero will take over for the renegades? I hope not. I want them to have their own title but I would be pretty heart broken if the Renegades are broken up. I'm fearing for Peter right now. His odds have just increased.3) Generation Zero! Yes!! Baxter's monster taking on the big robot hunter!!! And I think I see Charlene on that cover as well...

The concept sounds really cool. So i'm pretty excited about this.6) Doctor Mirage. I'm down, but not as enthused as with the other announcements.

Re: VALIANT Firsts Revealed! Holy *SQUEE*
Here's my breakdown of the titles for 2014 I posted in one of the other discussions...see how it sounds:
8-10 titles per month for the foreseeable future...
These are the definites based on the Newsarama interview with Warren and Dino (doesn't include the Armor Hunters mini):
XO
Unity
Harbinger (will continue after Armor Hunters: Harbinger)
Eternal Warrior
Rai
Doctor Mirage (on-going confirmed by Dino on twitter)
Shadowman (continuing in some form)
That's 7 definites, 8 including Armor Hunters, 9 including Armor Hunters: Bloodshot, 10 including The Delinquents.
No confirmation yet, but Archer & Armstrong and Quantum & Woody are likely to continue separately after The Delinquents. It's possible they could continue to share the book in some way, or A&A continues while Q&W is replaced with Q2. That would keep it at 8 or 9.
Then there are more announcements to come for October. This could be what form Shadowman will be taking, the splitting of Bloodshot & HARD Corps and/or some other new title(s). That would put it between 9 and 10.

Re: VALIANT Firsts Revealed! Holy *SQUEE*
Yeah, I think A&A and Q&W will be back to their ongoing series after the Delinquents. Q2 seems to be on the back burner right now. Probably a good opportunity to launch that while the Delinquents mini is going ... Although, I wouldn't mind if they just shelved it altogether. I just think it creates confusion having two versions of Q&W trying to share the spotlight.BugsySig wrote: No confirmation yet, but Archer & Armstrong and Quantum & Woody are likely to continue separately after The Delinquents. Re: VALIANT Firsts Revealed! Holy *SQUEE*
If they do cancel A&A ... the only thing that might soften the blow is an Ivar Timewalker ongoing that features Armstrong (And MUST be written by FVL)
And then Archer can have his own ongoing series or perhaps join a team book like Unity, Harbinger or Secret Weapons

I can't even entertain the possibility that A&A might be canceled. Hopefully we hear some news on what isn't being canceled.
I'll be ticked if either Bloodshot or A&A are canceled. Too much awesome in those characters/books to just trash them.

That's two of their most marketable Titles and most popular IP's. I'm sure they want to imagine those characters across different mediums(TV, games, movies) at some point.lorddunlow wrote:I can't even entertain the possibility that A&A might be canceled. Any type of discontinuation will be short lived and a re-boot would be inevitable, imo.

Be understanding, Ed. He doesn't read the old stuff. If titles get rebooted, he'll be torn. He will have already read the old stuff, because his recently new stuff will be old stuff. He won't know whether he just reads the old stuff (but not the really old stuff), or if he reads the new and old stuff. It's quite the pickle he's in really.paradise wrote:Wow, overreacting much?swtor1091 wrote:So what every title valiant has is being canceled? Because they don't want to go over ten titles. I think the only thing we know for sure is that Bloodshot and HARD Corp will come to an end
But not sure what that means at the moment.
Could mean a re-boot of Bloodshot or it could mean Bloodshot continues with the same numbering (just dropping HARD Corp from the title)

Re: VALIANT Firsts Revealed! Holy *SQUEE*
wow, this is getting super event-heavy and chaotic all of a sudden. reboots & one-shots & minis... and then my fav title (bloodshot&hard corps) gets axed (resp replaced but with a new writer... not cool). i totally get where this is coming from, from a business point of view. unfortunately this looks like the stuff which totally turns me off with marvel/dc.
maybe it's the only way to go if you wanna be successful with a shared universe concept. the enthusiastic reactions in this thread are also indicating this is what superhero fans want and that i'm in the minority. however, this is not for me.
i will sample rai, which looks very promising and will hopefully be a world of it's own. other than that it might prove a good opportunity for me to get out of the "universe-buying" thing.

This is just amazing. So much happening all at once.
I'm happy for one with the 'Valiant Firsts' scheme, as I'm going to try and use it to hook at least a couple of my pals on the company's comics!
To be honest, I'm really excited about everything. I'm a bit disappointed to see BS/HC is ending, but I'm quite confident that the man-machine won't be dropping off the radar altogether
Super psyched to hear there's at least another year, year and a half in Shadowman
I have so much to say on it all that it'd probably take me a couple of hours to write it all, so I'm just going to chip in frequently instead!
