Re: Shadowman 13x
I am another who would be wary of Quantum & Woody interacting with the wider VEI universe with their current tone. That is not to say they cannot work, I think a tone akin to that achieved by Priest and Bright would fit. Just not as they are now.jmatt wrote:I agree, QW would have to have some pretty serious moments before they could fit in with the rest of the cast. I was pretty surprised VEI resurrected this title before EW, Rai and Ninjak. I mean, if your gonna throw resources at a title in your first few years, do it with the pillar titles.lorddunlow wrote:Quantum and Woody, on the other hand, just doesn't belong (and I hope they never cross over with any of the other books. Ever.
As soon as Shadowman faces a rogue psiot, perhaps with some suitably malevolent and nasty abilities, then bang, he is in. Similarly, if we see how the loa or Deadside interact with the Houses, the link is there. Same could be argued of Quantum & Woody of course, but I think Shadowman is and has been a far closer fit to the rest of the line than this current take on Quantum & Woody, and would therefore be less surprising to mix with the wider VEI universe IMHO.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

Re: Shadowman 13x
I agree that Shadowman hasn't had any integration with the rest of the VEI universe to date. Having said that, I'm perfectly okay with it. I like Shadowman for what it is and I don't see any need to shoehorn in a plotline involving a psiot or whatever just for the sake of showing that he's part of this universe. (Besides, I think Jack has more than enough on his plate to be dealing with at the moment!)
I seem to recall that aside from Unity, VH1 Shadowman only ever dealt with one psiot throughout its entire run, yet people love the book: Shows that integrating Shadowman with the rest of the universe isn't perhaps really necessary. I personally wouldn't care if Shadowman NEVER integrated. As long as I'm enjoying the book for what it is, then I couldn't care less he never crosses paths with Bloodshot, or Harada, or A+A, etc. I'd hate the quality of Shadowman to be compromised just for the sake of showing that he's part of the Valiant universe.
I think Q+W could be great in say, Bloodshot, A+A, Harbinger, X-O... I think that done well, it'd be brilliant to see them bring in some slapstick humour to these books during a crossover. I think they could easily integrate with these books, if not the others. I can't quite get my thoughts down properly here, but I'm kind of thinking of Laurel and Hardy meets Arnold Schwarznegger in the case of Bloodshot/Q+W
I think it'd be a mistake to write off Q+W for crossover. I think it could be great
Oh, and on that subject, I noticed that some Q+W integration may have already been done: Take a look at the panel in Bloodshot/HARD Corps (forget which issue, the one where Superstar dies I think) where Genius is holding Flatline from behind as she uses 'Stun Ram' psiot ability to shoot projectiles at Mak from outside the skyscraper - Seen that somewhere before? Try the Quantum and Woody #5 regular cover

I could see Eric's Quantum interacting with other VALIANT heroes at least. Maybe Woody gets knocked out in panel #4 for whatever issue they guest star and he doesn't wake up till the last panel.

I just figured out a way to have Quantum and Woody in Harbinger!Shadowman99 wrote:Haha, that'd be great!Captain Craig wrote:I could see Eric's Quantum interacting with other VALIANT heroes at least. Animalia reads a comic based on Quantum and Woody and she projects them (crappy Ming Doyle style) into some situation. That would be funny.
