I approached Bernard with some Valiant books and a poster to sign at NC Comicon 2012. He was cool and I asked him about comissions. He agreed to do four blank Valiant covers for me. He couldn't do them that weekend and I agreed it was ok to take em home and finish at his leisure.

At NC Comicon 2013 he still wasn't done, so I comissioned four more covers

He finished them up in 2 months and just mailed em to me yesterday. So stoked! This comission was a loooong time in the making.

... Serious Archer and silly Armstrong drinkiiiiiiing!

I love that he modified it so amArmstrong is drinking and oblivious to the conflict, compared to the original where Archer was protecting him. After all, Armstrong doesn't really need protection.

The best part is he used an ink wash (ink diluted with water) to make the backgrounds that weren't black a light, light grey... this makes the white figures and explosions really pop into the foreground. Couldn't be happier with this commission. Definitely worth the wait.
