I was just on there. I clicked on 9 books to buy. Yet at checkout the promo code would only discount 2 of the books.

In terms of VEI books*, the most recent issues are excluded from the discount.

I figured as much. But they shouldn't have them offered on the page then. I know it says "some exclusions apply". But is there anywhere that states what those exclusions are?The Beyonder wrote:In terms of VEI books*, the most recent issues are excluded from the discount.

I stumbled upon this - I put 1 book in my cart, headed to the checkout, and then entered the VALIANT promo code. I then went back into the site and the discount was applied so that I could actually -see- what books were .99the1captain wrote:I figured as much. Re: Huge VALIANT ComiXology Sale!
yeah, normally comixology's sales aren't so hard to figure out, I guess it's because they have 500 books in this one. oh, well, I was kicking myself because I could've bought Eternal Warrior #4 for a few bucks less, but now I don't have to worry about that. and strangely, that's the only book I regretted buying at full price (although even stranger, I don't regret buying it).

Good idea. I emailed Comixology about it. They are looking into it.The Beyonder wrote:I stumbled upon this - I put 1 book in my cart, headed to the checkout, and then entered the VALIANT promo code. Re: Huge VALIANT ComiXology Sale!
Typical bait and switch sales tactics. VEI seriously needs to sell their digital books directly. I know I'm beating a dead horse (isn't their an emoticon for that on here?), but Image is really doing digital comics in the best way. I hope the risk they have taken pays off, and other publishers (maybe one that is small and can "turn on a dime"
could follow in their footsteps. Heck, maybe Image would host their files and provide a storefront alongside their's for a cut of the profits - I'm sure they wouldn't take more than Comixology and Apple take now.

Re: Huge VALIANT ComiXology Sale!
There is definite potential now for other publishers to jump on Image's bandwagon with this. It has to be a huge draw to allow DRM free downloads, and now to share them on devices via Dropbox. Plus they sell them direct from their site so they/the creators keep all the profit. Some other small publishers are bound to do the same.lorddunlow wrote:Typical bait and switch sales tactics. I wonder if Darkhorse, who only sells from their own storefront and not through Comixology and also hosts Dynamite books on their site, might be the next to move that way...

Having VALIANT sell this way through Image seems like a good idea, but I do wonder how much visibility they would sacrifice if they weren't on Comixology. They are still a fledgling company looking to find new readers, and Comixology gets tremendous traffic and gives them a lot of promotion and exposure.

Re: Huge VALIANT ComiXology Sale!
Image still has their books on Comixology. No reason VEI can't cover all bases. It's the same as a label making an artist's music available on iTunes, Google, Amazon, Pandora, Spotify, etc. The more ways to buy something, the better. I'm sure there are lots of people who would prefer Comixology (although I have no idea why).BugsySig wrote: Having VALIANT sell this way through Image seems like a good idea, but I do wonder how much visibility they would sacrifice if they weren't on Comixology. I actually think partnering with Image would reach a lot of people that otherwise wouldn't be exposed to Valiant books. Just think of how many people would be exposed to a book if it was on the splash page of the website right next to Saga or TWD.

Re: Huge VALIANT ComiXology Sale!
I'm looking to fill out my VALIANT collection.
Are the A&A 7 and 9 (non BWS art) worth checking out?
How about Quantum and Woody, I'm thinking about getting the whole series.
Yay, or Nay?

While I am not the biggest Q&W fan, I think the series is definitely worth reading.

Re: Huge VALIANT ComiXology Sale!
Can someone help with some details regarding the "Digital Exclusives Edition"? I was thinking of doubledipping for the H.A.R.D. Corps appearances and was wondering what the extra content is/could be.

Re: Huge VALIANT ComiXology Sale!
It's only a few uncolored pages of art. Usually inked, but occasional pencils. They also all have a 5-page preview of another book. You don't even get all the covers in a gallery, which blows.jthuconn wrote:Can someone help with some details regarding the "Digital Exclusives Edition"? Extra content is always just a few (3-4) uncolored pages of the art.

Thanks to your method I managed to navigate the sale easily enough to make a major purchase. I am also planning on gifting some people a few issues of books I really enjoy before the sale is up in the next day or two. Anyone else want to join me in this Comixology Freeview?

Re: Huge VALIANT ComiXology Sale!
I buy floppy copies, and then whenever they have a .99 sale I pick up digital copies too.
I'll never pay $3.99 for a digital copy, it's just too high for something you never truly own and can't even organize (comixology's organization is nonexistent)

You can own Image Digital books. Just have to mention that again. I'm really hoping VEI starts doing that too.Carson wrote:I buy floppy copies, and then whenever they have a .99 sale I pick up digital copies too.
