Something that really disappointed me was Moon Knights somewhat side kick ~ Frenchie ~ Jean Paul going gay for no reason.

All through the series, everything says heterosexual, from his first appearance back in werewolf by night ~ all through all the series he had female lovers and partners ~ no hint of anything else. Not even a suggestion.

Then suddenly

Oh wait ~ I'm gay now.

First I don't care, and second ~ if marvel wants to include more variety of sexual orientation ~ why do it to a character that had showed no attraction to men in that way ever.

Saying that, he is such an obscure character it doesn't effect anything. So completely pointless exercise.

I thought some very good stuff was done with the characters. I think because I came in to them with a re-imagining (!mpact), and have now seen them via multiple iterations, I can enjoy each version on its own merits, whereas some I know have hated the reinterpretations.

I wish there had been enough time to flesh out Comet, and reveal more about Steel Sterling and Mr. Justice (who had a one panel or thereabouts cameo - even John Rozum, the writer of the Hangman series - missed the cameo; I know, I asked!).

A great take on the concept, especially the out-sourced heroics. Also, loved the Roger Robinson art.

Long term fan, have most every issue from around issue 30? onwards. Collected most back issues between 1-30.

New relaunch pointless. Read first few - doesn't seem, well - disappointed to say the least.
Don't read it anymore.

Having not read Ghost Rider before I'm half interested in this new series as a point to delving into the character and its world. I'm not that keen on the LA drug gang violence/car racing angle, but I can see how that may provide a perpetually antagonistic locale for GR, so I'm hoping to at least skim a copy of it. Having said that, I am a bit miffed that my first chance to check out modern-day Ghost Rider is in the form of a moody teenager mechaphiliac that drives a (wicked badass) car in a setting that I personally disdain. Gives me good reason still to delve into back issues of Ghost Rider, if nothing else.

I've just passed my first year in the comic book world so I haven't had much pass by that's disappointed as such, but I have two gripes with what I've experienced from what's occurred so far:

- 'A1' comic by Titan: miniseries that I picked up six issues of that didn't provide any conclusion to the disjointed stories contained within. Quite poor.

- 'Misleading' titles from Valiant: Harbinger Wars - Nowhere near the rip-roaring actionfest I expected it to be based on the word 'War' in the title, and as somebody else mentioned, Planet Death featuring nothing nearly close to the sort. Both titles have resulted somewhat in a sense of anti-climax, even though the comics themselves were indeed well executed and enjoyable.

Pretty much anything by Dynamite. Either because it didn't live up to potential, its poor quality or falling to delays and cancellation.

Almost everything from the New 52, especially all the WildStorm books/characters (though I thought Voodoo was good before Martz was run off).

This really returned the character to its roots without being hokey and brought back the original Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze. That was where Ghost Rider started to really suck and every attempted revival continued to suck until Daniel Way's run. Yeah, I've been discussing GR in some depth with another user on here for a while and I am seriously going to check out GR in the near(ish) future, so thanks for the tips, I'll check out those links now

I would add to Heaths recommendations and say that the last 12 or so issues of the original GR series are required reading as well. Great art by Bob Budiansky, & fantastic stories that are weird & creepy as hell (for the time they were made in), that really define what GR should be about. I believe JM Dematteis was the writer of those issues... In the final letter columns, the creators mentioned knowing the book was in trouble sales-wise around #70, and they just started pulling out all the stops & pouring their creative souls into the work.

My all time single favourite Ghost Rider issue is #77 of that run, it finally gave an origin for the demon Zarathos, and to be honest my biggest disappointment with the 90's series (although it was largely excellent as well to me) was that they ignored that origin tale.
