wow
thanks for posting this.
Here is the advertisement/teaser

Very interesting move by VEI .. a lot of strong IP's in their backpocket still but they are going with something that looks like a new title .. Or can this be a tie-in mini-series similar to Harbinger Wars?

Re: Armor Hunters is Coming...
Hmmm...
Reminds me a lot of the initial tease before "Enter: Ninjak"
They are right, though, that saying "Armor Hunters is coming" suggests a book/title (or story line) as opposed to just the first appearance of a group.
I would lean toward either a story-line or the next cross-over miniseries a la Harbinger Wars.
On a separate note, that logo is awful...but I noticed the Omega symbol is very prominent at the top (Reminded me of The Visitor)

pretty sure that ain't gonna be a new book but a storyline/mini-series. probably introducing an antagonist "supergroup" as unity-adversaries...

The logo and brand look like an 80's/90's toy line. I'm optimistic it will be a good read, given the consistent quality of the other titles.

To quote Keanu Reeves: "WHOAH!"
I'm also wondering about whether this is a crossover or a new series. Pretty gutsy move if it's a new series when they still have IP's waiting to be put out. They've said multiple times though that they'll use whatever concept gives the strongest pitch.
Now for the next intruiging question: Does this have to be in present day versus Aric, or could this be set in 4001 with a team trying to track down the remains to get ahold of the armor after hundreds or thousands of years of it being lost?

Re: Armor Hunters is Coming...
I thought of that as well. This could easily be a way of incorporating a previously existing IP (Armorines) into the 4001 timeline in order to bolster that section of the VALIANT Universe.Phoenix8008 wrote:Now for the next intruiging question: Does this have to be in present day versus Aric, or could this be set in 4001 with a team trying to track down the remains to get ahold of the armor after hundreds or thousands of years of it being lost?![]()
Though, I'll still maintain this is a crossover/mini series.

Yep interesting question. It could be 4001 ... and the skull in this picture could be Aric'sPhoenix8008 wrote: Now for the next intruiging question: Does this have to be in present day versus Aric, or could this be set in 4001 with a team trying to track down the remains to get ahold of the armor after hundreds or thousands of years of it being lost?![]()
although the helmet is a bit different with the face visor more rounded ... so probably not Aric. Maybe someone with a Wolf Class armor?? or if it IS the XO Armor - it could be another person who was wearing it and it changed its appearance when it had a new host.
Then again ... Since the XO armor is sentient wouldn't it just turn into a BALL when the host dies and wait until someone else tries to wear it?

Haven't we had a few moments where the cover does NOT depict what happened inside, or what could even be possible? The Ninjak's sword through Aric's helmet cover comes to mind...bygranddesign wrote:Then again ... And I'm nearly positive this is a story arc, and not a new title. It sounds more like a show on the Discovery channel than a new series.

Yeah and XO Manowar #19 ... has a similar imageThe Beyonder wrote: Haven't we had a few moments where the cover does NOT depict what happened inside, or what could even be possible? The Ninjak's sword through Aric's helmet cover comes to mind...

I haven't turned down many pullbox variants from my LCS .. but this one I refused to buy. Nothing to do with what actually happens in the story and not a very interesting cover, IMO.
I hope this teaser is more than just some symbolic image ..and there is some substance behind it.

Yeah, I know. I think Miguel is a very good artist, I just didn't like that cover of XO.tchalla8 wrote:

I do like this teaser image a lot more - I think there is a lot more behind it. I like the skull. i like the mystery of who that could have been and what kind of armor is that. I just hope it reflects something that happens in the actual story.

I like the "bend the knee or take the head" tag on this teaser
Not sure if I should be reading anything into it or just take it at face value..
I guess it could be taken from 2 different vantage points ...
bow to me or you will lose your head
or
you can either bow to your enemy .. or you can fight (and take off their head)

Re: Armor Hunters is Coming...
Both the quote and the logo suggest to me a medieval connotation...could these "Armor Hunters" exist throughout time, collecting Vine technology? Sort of like the Forever Knights from Ben 10. Could be a cool tie in to past, present and future. Just a thought.bygranddesign wrote:I like the "bend the knee or take the head" tag on this teaser

Re: Armor Hunters is Coming...
My feeling is story arc as well. I'd love to see the Armor Hunters be some kind of space-faring aliens who discover that the Vine no longer have the X-O armor, but that it is on some primitive backwater world called Earth and come to try and take it thinking it would be easy to obtain from such a less advanced race. A story like that or something similar that establishes some more cosmic story threads for the Valiant universe as a whole would be a good addition I think. Even if they are from the future as someone mentioned before, I still hope they are not just from Earth and time traveling back, but from off-world.
While I totally agree that VEI has an incredible library of characters they have yet to use, I think about two years in is a good time for something original. It would show on a more broad scale the company mantra of 'Best Idea Wins' as well as perhaps draw in some new fans who want to get in on the ground floor of a new idea from the start, rather than a re-booted classic Valiant character. Plus expanding on the Valiant universe in a cosmic way could lead to getting Jim Starlin to write and draw a cosmic Valiant title and that would be AWESOME!!! Or maybe I am just wishful thinking.
