Re: Gold Key
If they could ensure a profit on those, perhaps. But it's pretty much guaranteed that there wouldn't be new material in those. I'm not sure what most people think of the VH1 HCs, but I'm not bothering with them if I own the original comics and there's no new material. I imagine that the Eternal Warrior Valiant Masters being delayed means there's not a huge demand for reprints of the old books. Having to divvy up the proceeds makes reprinting the Gold Key characters series that much less attractive a business venture.BugsySig wrote:How about just facilitating the reprinting of VH1 Gold Key? Surely sharing some of the profit/expense on that would be better than nothing for VEI...I know I'd buy VALIANT Masters: Solar Man of the Atom and VALIANT Masters: Magnus Robot Fighter.kjjohanson wrote:VEI already said that (Q2 excepted) they have no plans to revisit the original continuity. however, wouldn't anybody be interested in a "crossover" set in the original VH1 universe?
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

Fair enough. I buy all the Masters collections, though, and am bummed the EW one has been delayed. Hoping the same doesn't happen to Rai.kjjohanson wrote:If they could ensure a profit on those, perhaps. But it's pretty much guaranteed that there wouldn't be new material in those. I like having them on the shelf. I have most of the obtainable originals, but don't like to crack into them to read them.
I do not, however, have many early Solar or Magnus issues and would love to see those collected. Perhaps coinciding with the launch of the new Dynamite series would be beneficial to the sales of both?
Though I'm not sure VEI wants to help with any of Dynamites sales, nor do they want to be seen as endorsing their version of the characters.

Re: Gold Key
You really just mainly need to get the old Valiant TPBs. They collect arguably 50-75%+ or so of everything that was great in VH1.BugsySig wrote: I do not, however, have many early Solar or Magnus issues and would love to see those collected.
It's not that I don't have an avatar... I've just been working on it for the last few hundred years.

So Turok is now a Mohawk? Wasn't the Dark Horse Turok from an Eastern Woodlands Tribe?

Reminds me a bit of the look from the 2008 video game (except his was more of a classic mohawk).

Re: Gold Key
I just bought a pretty big lot of VH1 books pre-Unity and I'm just wondering which books should I read first? Should I start with the Gold Key characters, and if so, which one? Is there a thread on this site that tells you when they came out?

Re: Gold Key
Depends on how early the vh1 books are. Early Turok was enjoyable, as was Xo, Solar was hit or miss throughout its run, but it did introduce my fave villain Dr Eclipse. Magnus was great, ( early Turok were flip book backside, and Magnus through the Malev wars was astonishing. First 12 or so issues of Rai were unbelievable. And though most here didn't like Secret Weapons, I actually did, paraman was my favorite( he's an XO wannabe, started off as just a MI5 agent I think.

Re: Gold Key
Just wondering - shouldn't these discussions be in the Marvel, DC and Independents section?

VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

Re: Gold Key
They should, but due to the close connection the characters had with Valiant, plus the interest (there must be at least 10 different topics about this now) we've allowed it be in some of the Valiant sections. Greg made a post a few weeks ago saying that at some point we'll move them to the independent section.leonmallett wrote:Just wondering - shouldn't these discussions be in the Marvel, DC and Independents section?
