Nah, I bet you $10 she gets her own book within the next two years.ThatDarnCabbage wrote:So are we never going to see Kay McHenry again? I was hoping to see more of her in this series. As a new fan of Valiant I can't say I'm excited to have two separate timelines. I feel that creates strange limitations with the past series. I'd rather just have one solid timeline, I feel it's easier to connect with the stories than t way. I know we'll see more of current EW in Unity, and I'll still be continuing to get this series, as with every Valiant book, but I'm cautious about this direction.
I'm pumped about the VEI future timeline, I wasn't too big on the VH1 future mostly cuz it was so heavily tied to the Magnus concept, I really want to see how creative and crazy these guys can be now that they're being given a chance to reshape the Universe with absolutely no obligation to the past incarnations. (with the exception of Rai/The Archies/Psi-Lords)

Kay will be featured in EW I'm sure, but the current 1-4 arc takes place before the A&A arc where she was introduced.ThatDarnCabbage wrote:So are we never going to see Kay McHenry again? I think the potential upside of the future is greater than the downside you mentioned. Opening up the future timeline allows the folks at VEI to tap into some amazing intellectual properties, like Rai.
I imagine Eternal Warrior will only be a future based book for one arc, to help introduce the future. After that it may flash forward (like it currently has been flashing back), but I expect the majority of EW stories to play out in the present. We'll see!
EW #2 was a great read, so I'm stoked about whatever direction Pak takes it.

So long as Rai is done properly I am very excited about this. The future in no ways ties the creators hands. In fact if they are any good (and they are) this creates countless possibilities for them.

That was my first thought as well, well no my actual first thought when I saw that cover was "WOW".
The beauty of this book is that we may see many arcs during different time periods, that can influence past, present and future.
The thought of this excites me not only for Rai, but also for the fact that this can also set the stage for an ongoing Timewalker series, that can also delve into the future realm as well.
Things are definitely getting exciting at Valiant

Well, I've been saying that VEI needed a solid story anchor for going to the future beyond simple fan wish fulfillment. Seems like they've found a pretty darn good one.

Re: The FUTURE is NOW!!!! 4001 is coming....
It makes sense right now to have EW take place in the past and future because he is also appearing in Unity for at least the first arc. Some were wondering about the continuity issues appearing in multiple books presents, so this is a smart way to avoid that. After his Unity stint (assuming its temporary, which it may not be) I'd expect some present day story lines.Peter wrote:Carson wrote:

The ONLY book I'm likely to pick up and read before a VEI book in my stack of books each week is Revival. VEI wins hands down. Except for X-O. I still haven't read #17.

I hate to say it, but Dynamite is publishing Magnus, Solar, Turok and some other GK character soon. Teaser here:

Re: The FUTURE is NOW!!!! 4001 is coming....
I find the choice of 4001 interesting since they don't have the GK3, actually. Why make it the timeline associated with Magnus, if you aren't going to have Magnus as a character? This makes me think that VEI may have some crossover plans to reintroduce some characters.
In my fanboy 11yr old brain somewhere, I'm giddy with the thought that VEI will have a temporary crossover with Dynamite in the 4001 timeline which would allow two things which would be mutually beneficial to both lines:
1. GK3 in VEI! - if it was temporary, then you get the best of both worlds. You appease the VH1 freaks like me who want to see Magnus and Solar interacting with Gilad and X-O, but the newbies aren't scratching their heads as to why these characters are there now, out of the blue. I can imagine a scenario where somehow we get a VEI version of Solar (Phil Seleski) out of this crossover that could actually use the Solar history.
2. Dynamite could capitalize on the awesome additions that VALIANT made to the GK3 - they could use Tekla, etc. in the crossover which would pull in some of us to read their stuff possibly. VEI could also then, bring those characters into the fold organically instead of trying to force them in.

Nope, you are not alone; even if VEI could buy them, I don't think they would be that cheap; I would sooner VEI mine what they have, and create new when they need to.

This is why a think a crossover would be a great way to organically introduce the parts of VH1 that were intricately related to the GK3 (but owned outright by VEI now) without having to spend any money on them or mess around with licensing the characters temporarily or anything. VEI already partnered with Dynamic Forces for some lithos/statues, so I really think Dino has some tricks up his sleeve. I'm anxiously awaiting the coming year.leonmallett wrote:tated250 wrote:Am I the only one that really doesn't want the GK3 back that is unless they can own them but any other way just seems to risky.

But long term something that cannot really be built on (packaging books for collected editions; referencing events/characters). I gotta agree with Mr. Mallett on this one. Valiant is better off without them at this point, especially if they'd have to lease them to use them.

This might be the turning point to get me back into reading VEI books as they come out again, instead of just buying them, putting them away and waiting for the trades.

If VEI can't own and control Magnus entirely then I actually hope they decide to take the 4001 line in a completely new direction without milespires and such. It would actually present Valiant with a good opportunity to create entirely new title characters.

I can't see how it can survive for long without the old VH1 fanbase boosting its numbers. Dark Key proved it was impossible to pull of even with the allure of Shooter at the helm. But now with so many readers who gave it a chance with DK now sitting on copies of yet another dead universe, it's gonna be once bitten, twice shy.Carson wrote:I hate to say it, but Dynamite is publishing Magnus, Solar, Turok and some other GK character soon.
But who knows? I see FVL is involved and wish him only the best.

Re: The FUTURE is NOW!!!! 4001 is coming....
Posted in the thread in the general section, but might as well go into more detail here.
As some of you should remember, I went on the record saying that I didn't think Valiant should try to redo the future timeline, especially if it was just to please the older fanbase or because of some belief that you have to do a future storyline to do Rai. However, let me clarify: this is not a game-breaker. I am definitely coming along for the ride, and I will happily concede that I was mistaken. I'm only human, and it's not like it's bad news anyway.
I haven't read the article, but I definitely like where this is going. I think this is an excellent way of introducing 4001, giving us an aged nearly withered Gilad that reminds me much of the Thor "God Killer" story arc. The fact that it's Pak at the helm only makes me more excited.
