anyone met Barry Kitson?
I've been hoping a Valiant artist would be coming to a Con near me, and I just found that Bloodshot artist Barry Kitson will be in my town for a Con this November. I'd love to pay him to get a sketch done on my Bloodshot/A&A flipbook. Anyone had any experience with him at other Cons? If so, what was your experience with him?

He was in Seattle this year. Super nice and accommodating. He did a Bloodshot sketch on my flip book and offered to do a better sketch, but I was very short on time. I hope to meet him again.

Good to know. I sent him an email asking him about his sketch prices.

Nothing for the flip book sketch - at Valiant's booth.
I can't recall what a full sketch costs, but that comes with a fee.

I don't know what he charges for sketches, but he's a really nice guy.

I met Kitson a few years ago and he was very cool. Wasn't taking any more commissions when I got to him, but I did get to watch him finish a really nice Promethia commission for someone else.

Re: anyone met Barry Kitson?
I've seen Kitson at Baltimore for a number of consecutive years. Last I knew he does commissions for free, the only catch is you have to get in line and wait your turn. He will take about an hour a sketch and you have to wait the whole time. This is a great thing if you are early, however if you're fourth or fifth in line you may be waiting most of the day. Good Luck, I've been thinking of trying for him this year myself

Re: anyone met Barry Kitson?
I got an email back from Barry, and he couldn't have been nicer. He expressed his excitement over working for VEI, and he's very much looking forward to working with Josh on the upcoming Harbinger arc.
He also said he does head and torso sketches for free at cons, although he said if I wanted a more "finished" product we could work something out at the con. I'm very much looking forward to meeting this guy.

Very cool that you get to do colours over his work, Brian!Reber wrote:I don't know what he charges for sketches, but he's a really nice guy.

Well, crap, Kitson had to cancel. What a bummer. Was really hoping to get a flipbook sketch done.
Miguel Sepulveda is coming, but that's the only other Valiant-related artist showing up.
Man...what a let down...

Re: anyone met Barry Kitson?
Sorry to hear he had to cancel! Definitely try to catch him next time. I met Barry in Baltimore this year and I have to say, I don't regret a single moment that I spent hanging out with the guys at his booth. I spent both days there just hanging out, talking, and just making friends. His booth is unlike any other part of a con. He doesn't want you to come by just to run off with your newly signed books, he encourages you to hang out and talk and make friends. He is completely open and friendly and was really a joy to be around, and was especially sweet to my girlfriend who stayed both days with me like a champ. In the end, he did a full figure X-O Manowar sketch with pencils, inks, and watercolors for me. I know he typically does busts free of charge but since I had purchased some art he upgraded me. The entire time we just talked about anything you could imagine, and I genuinely believe he enjoyed hanging out with fans as much as we did him. To top it off, the way he treats the young kids, the up and coming fans will warm your heart. He was truly one of the most enjoyable people I have been around. It was a blast, and I will be trying to catch up with him whenever possible. The Kitson booth is the best part of the con.
I wouldn't do that. He mentioned a story or two about this. Not a path you want to travel.lorddunlow wrote: That stinks. Just find out where he lives and stalk him a little.
