VEI for CF
Ran this past bruce and elery - and here's the scoop.
Sent Atom! and Dino an email, and keeping with the old perspective on CF and donations, wanted to put this out to you kids, as well.
I'm sending a monetary donation to VEI to keep the books in order - and hoping a few others might help out. If we could raise the $125 for the book, we could purchase book #50 - and then open it up auction style for CF. Either have many people donate five dollars, and the winner could be randomly drawn, or ask that the highest bidder be given the copy. All this can/will be determined by donors later.
Either way, we need your donations!
I am putting up $25 (to start) and am interested in seeing if YOU kids could also be willing to donate the funds. Really - any amount could help get us there. Once we reach the $125, the rest could go DIRECTLY to CF.
Please respond here with your interest, and a dollar donation amount.
Thanks to all!
K B
Don't send the donation to anyone yet. Just 'pledge' your amount here.

Kevin,
Looks like you already have what you need. If you just post your Paypal email we all can send you the funds to get this going.

Re: VEI for CF
Humble thanks to all.
I have sent pms, and will forward the $125 over to VEI when donations are received.
Since we have received $150 pledged, I think that the overage could/should be sent over to CF funds - on top of whatever else is raised.
The only other question I have asked donors is whether the funds should be sent directly to team alyssa - or to CF specifically. We welcome feedback, but I think it would be best to have the votes private - majority rules - one vote for each donor. And when the decision has been made - I will let folks know.

Re: VEI for CF
I received payments from four of the five donors, and sent payment. One is pending, but I will push that toward the first donation to CF.'
Humble thanks to all.
So far, three votes for team alyssa, and no votes for general fund. It seems Alyssa will be the decision.

All have paid. Humble thanks to all.
Payment has been sent.
Asking for suggestions on the auction - or should I just do a 'straight' auction?
Each donor will be allowed to vote.
Thanks!

Re: VEI for CF
It is how I would vote - if I were the only one.MarkRoseHFX wrote:What about a board raffle? is that even possible?
My 'thought' is that I would give a ticket for each set donation - much like a raffle. Perhaps even offer a discount for multiple tickets. one for a dollar, Six for five, or whatever.
Then, I would record the random drawing. Include in the video the shots of the clock I have that posts to standard time - show one entry each, and then place them all 'in a hat,' so to speak.
Finally, draw the winner.
Nice part is that every person COULD get an opportunity to win it - without having to spend the most money to earn it. It would have the ability to get a copy of the book into someone's fingers that wouldn't necessarily be able to buy one.
Heck, I'd even put the $25 donors into the pot. We ended up with $25 extra. It could be the value of five bucks for each person.
I will also look around to see if I can find anything else around my 'give to others' pot to send along. I may have a copy or two extra of the signed X-O or Harbingers lying around...
Other thoughts?
My first wish is to make 100% certain that the donations all get to CF. Secondly, that every donor is treated equally. No wishes to make anyone get a bad taste in their mouth. Finally, to make this really great for the donor.
All the best.

Re: VEI for CF
One member has a daughter diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, and for quite a while, members have put together packages for donations in the name of team alyssa.
This is our attempt to continue this tradition. More later. Busy weekend.

Re: VEI for CF
Yeah, in Pm I think I said raffle tickets, and I think that has the most chance at making the most money and also the best chance for anyone to win. After thinking about it, I agree with the price point you mentioned of $1 each or 6/$5 or something along those lines too.

Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

Love the idea of the raffle. If you end up putting the $25 donations into the raffle as tickets, please exclude mine. Let one of the site members who may not have the opportunities that I have with VEI, get one.kevinbastos wrote:Heck, I'd even put the $25 donors into the pot. We ended up with $25 extra. Re: VEI for CF
I also think that the raffle is the best idea. Let me check a little with Knightt - pm or perhaps that elusive phone call we keep missing. WHAT A WEEK!
Then, when I've sort of ironed out the details, I will put up some kind of a posting way. I am thinking that the $5 per ticket - and six for $25 - might be the best way to get interest - and spike the interest, as well.
Thanks, for the donation, paradise. With your permission, I might turn your ticket over to a specific person. If that person would approve.
Look for info - probably next weekend - on the auction.
Humble thanks, all.
